Investment Associate (Based in Indonesia)

Job description

We are seeking a highly motivated Investment Associate to join our new regional office in Indonesia, supporting shareholder engagement, long-term value creation opportunities and Jardine Matheson’s strategic priorities in the market. Reporting to the Country Head of Indonesia, the Investment Associate will take on a broad role spanning portfolio stewardship, investment and market analysis, stakeholder engagement and strategic project support. As part of a lean and growing team, the successful candidate will work across a diverse portfolio of businesses and contribute to the continued development of Jardine Matheson’s activities in Indonesia. The role requires strong commercial judgement, intellectual curiosity, relationship-building skills and the ability to work effectively across strategic and operational matters. Key Responsibilities Portfolio Stewardship & Shareholder Engagement Develop and maintain regular dialogue with portfolio company management teams to understand business performance, strategic priorities and key value drivers. Monitor financial and operational performance against budgets, plans and expectations, highlighting material risks, opportunities and strategic issues for shareholder attention. Prepare shareholder briefings, business reviews and management updates that support informed engagement and long-term value creation across the portfolio. Investment & Opportunity Development Monitor market developments, industry trends and macroeconomic dynamics across Indonesia to identify new business, investment and partnership opportunities. Evaluate acquisition, expansion and strategic growth opportunities through commercial, strategic and financial analysis. Support investment assessments, business cases and due diligence activities, developing insights and recommendations to guide decision-making. Strategic Support & Project Execution Coordinate strategic initiatives between the Indonesia office, Hong Kong and portfolio companies, ensuring clear alignment, progress tracking and follow-through. Contribute to strategic reviews, market studies and special projects by providing structured analysis, project management and practical execution support. Stakeholder Management & Office Development Build trusted relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including colleagues across Jardine Matheson and portfolio companies. Support the development and effectiveness of the Indonesia regional office by taking ownership of workstreams and deliverables in a hands-on, self-directed manner. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business, Engineering or a related discipline. MBA from a top-tier school is a plus. Minimum 5–8 years of relevant experience gained in Investment Banking, Private Equity, Corporate Development, Management Consulting, Principal Investments or related fields. Knowledge of the Indonesian business environment and investment landscape. Experience working with or evaluating businesses across Southeast Asia. Strong financial analysis, commercial assessment and problem-solving skills. Ability to synthesise complex information and communicate key insights clearly. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to engage effectively with senior stakeholders. Excellent written and verbal communication skills in Bahasa Indonesia and English.
