Using our commerce, marketing, and delivery solutions, our customers create optimized consumer shopping journeys from beginning to end. **Overview** As an Automation Engineer, you design, build, and maintain the scripts, workflows, and tools that let Rithum’s Business Technology team spend less time on manual, repetitive IT work and more time solving problems that matter. You also administer and support the end-user, identity, and collaboration platforms Rithum runs on, so the automation you build is grounded in hands-on ownership of those systems. You partner closely with the Service Desk, Infrastructure Engineering, and Information Security teams to identify where automation can reduce risk and free up capacity, and you are accountable for the reliability of the automation you build. All team members are expected to leverage AI to work smarter, accelerate decision-making, automate repeatable work, and improve outcomes. You are encouraged to continuously identify opportunities to apply AI, data, and scalable processes to enhance productivity, drive innovation, and deliver greater value for our clients, partners, and teams while maintaining appropriate judgment, quality, security, confidentiality, and compliance. **Responsibilities** Automation Development & Engineering - Design, build, and maintain automation scripts and workflows (e.g., PowerShell, Python, Bash) that streamline IT service delivery, endpoint provisioning, and systems administration tasks. - Design, build, and own automated workflows across user lifecycle, device provisioning, and identity lifecycle using Rithum's existing platforms (Okta, Microsoft Entra ID, Intune, Jamf) and API and webhook integrations. - Instrument automations with logging and alerting so every action is auditable and measurable, tracking hours saved and errors reduced rather than only whether a workflow ran. - Translate manual, repetitive IT operations processes into reliable, documented, automated solutions, adapting existing scripts and tools to address new and evolving business needs. - Use AI tools to accelerate script development, troubleshoot automation failures, and draft technical documentation, verifying outputs before they are applied to production systems. Enterprise Systems Administration & Support - Administer, configure, and monitor end-user and identity platforms such as Active Directory, Okta, Microsoft Entra ID, Intune, Jamf, and Tanium, escalating architectural decisions on complex integrations to senior IT Operations teammates. - Administer and support collaboration and productivity platforms such as Microsoft 365, Google Workspace, Slack, Zoom, and Microsoft Teams. - Resolve end-user computing issues across Windows and macOS through the ticketing queue, direct messaging, and voice or video sessions, owning requests end-to-end and escalating critical incidents and system alerts to senior IT Operations. - Document technical solutions so they are accurate, secure, and aligned with corporate IT and Information Security standards and policies. - Partner with the Service Desk, Infrastructure Engineering, and Information Security teams to identify recurring manual tasks that are strong candidates for automation. - Collaborate with partner teams to test, deploy, and monitor automation workflows, tailoring communication to technical and non-technical audiences. - Provide occasional guidance to Service Desk teammates on scripting fundamentals and automation best practices as your experience grows. Process Documentation & Continuous Improvement - Document automation workflows, runbooks, and troubleshooting guides so that solutions remain supportable and repeatable across the IT organization. - Own the automation knowledge base, keeping runbooks and integration notes current so what you build is repeatable and supportable by others rather than dependent on you. - Apply lessons learned from prior automation efforts to improve reliability, reduce inefficiencies, and anticipate dependencies in future builds. - Monitor the performance and reliability of deployed automations, escalating and resolving issues within your area of ownership. AI-Enabled Productivity & Innovation - Use AI as your starting point for recurring IT work — configuration research, scripting, troubleshooting, documentation, and solution design — so your output is clearer and needs less rework. - Validate AI-generated scripts, configurations, and recommendations in non-production environments before applying them, following Rithum's responsible AI use and data security standards. - Share effective AI-assisted approaches and prompts with teammates when they meaningfully improve automation quality or speed. - Continuously identify opportunities where automation and AI can be applied to Business Technology workflows, escalating larger opportunities to your manager. **Qualifications** Minimum Qualifications - 2+ years of experience in IT systems administration, service desk operations, or a related technical role, including hands-on experience writing and maintaining automation scripts (e.g., PowerShell, Python, Bash, or similar). - Hands-on experience administering or supporting enterprise identity, collaboration, and productivity platforms such as Active Directory, Microsoft Entra ID, Okta, Microsoft 365, Slack, Zoom, or Microsoft Teams. - Demonstrated experience adapting or troubleshooting existing automation, scripts, or workflows to resolve moderately complex, ambiguous technical issues. - Experience using AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot, Claude) to improve productivity through research, communication, analysis, documentation, automation, workflow optimization, and decision-making. - Demonstrated hands-on use of AI coding tools (e.g., Claude Code, GitHub Copilot) to build, ship, or automate a working solution, evidenced by a portfolio, repository, or project example. - Located in the United States Central or Mountain time zone, with working hours aligned to that time zone. - Handle escalations requiring cross-team coordination. Participate in an on-call rotation for urgent issues outside business hours. - Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain technical concepts to technical and non-technical audiences. - Must be available for occasional travel to Rithum offices - anticipated quarterly. - Successful professional experience working in a remote environment. Preferred Qualifications - 3+ years of experience in IT automation, systems engineering, or a DevOps-adjacent role. - Certifications such as CompTIA Server+, CompTIA Linux+, Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate, or equivalent scripting/automation certifications. - Experience integrating automation with IT service management or endpoint management tooling (e.g., ServiceNow, Microsoft Intune, Jira). - Experience with workflow orchestration or automation tooling (e.g., Zapier, Make, n8n, Workato). - Familiarity with REST API integration patterns and event-driven concepts such as webhooks, triggers, and conditional logic. - Exposure to endpoint management and protection platforms (e.g., Microsoft Intune, Jamf, Tanium, CrowdStrike). - Personal projects, repositories, or hackathon work demonstrating scripting or automation ability. **What it’s like to work at Rithum** When you join Rithum, you can expect to work with smart risk-takers, courageous collaborators, and curious minds. We believe in transparency and fairness in our compensation practices. For this position, the expected base pay range is: $75,000-$115,000 per year. This range represents the base pay for the role across all U.S. locations and is determined based on market data, internal equity, and experience. Final compensation may vary depending on geographic location, skills, and relevant experience. In addition to base pay, we offer a discretionary bonus for non-sales roles, a comprehensive benefits package, and, where applicable, sales incentives.
