Junior Construction Project Engineer

Job description

### Who we are At Ecosystem we believe we should be accountable for results. That’s why we've integrated engineering and construction, seeing our projects through from design concept to implementation and commissioning. And that's how we can efficiently solve complex energy and decarbonization challenges in the built environment. Here are some of the projects we've been working on recently: [Adelphi University](https://youtu.be/tjySXaQ_RSo?si=3ntwlt9jbrGumZCi), [Brown University](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8Nxa-kQwsAw) and [San Diego Padres Stadium](https://ecosystem-energy.com/case-studies/san-diego-padres-stadium/). ### Why this role matters At Ecosystem, we operate as an integrated engineering and construction firm: We design with construction expertise, build with operations in mind, and optimize every decision to hit the target. As a Construction Manager, you will be deeply involved throughout all phases of the project: you will have a strong influence during the design stage; ensuring constructability and operational efficiency, before leading its execution on site. Here, you won’t be given a step-by-step playbook. Instead, we define what the building needs to achieve—and you’ll have the flexibility, resources, and the full toolbox to determine how to get there. ### What you'll do As part of an integrated multidisciplinary team working from design through completion, you will be responsible to: - Help ensure compliance with health and safety requirements on project sites and contribute to the application of best practices. - Support on-site construction operations by coordinating with subcontractors, clients, and internal stakeholders. - Collaborate with the Project Coordinator and the Construction Managers to identify permit requirements and ensure timely project delivery. - Assist in identifying and resolving technical challenges on site, applying problem-solving skills to support efficient and cost-effective project delivery. - Help track and manage changes and scope adjustments by documenting impacts on costs, schedules, and resources, and escalating risks as needed. - Support the preparation of project upgrades, including estimates and documentation, for review and presentation to the client. - Develop an understanding of energy performance measures and sustainability considerations prior to implementation. - Assist with day-to-day execution of construction activities, helping ensure alignment with budget, schedule, and quality requirements. Your professional development is an integral part of your role. At Ecosystem, you are encouraged to learn, experiment, and step outside conventional boundaries. We value audacity: where others wait for solutions to be proven, we choose to be among the first to innovate. ### Your profile - Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline. - 0-2 years of construction project management and on-site experience. - Interest in complex mechanical construction. - Strong communication (written and verbal), listening, skills in English. - Team player with a positive attitude, resilience, and determination. - Quick critical thinking ability under pressure. - Top-notch organizational skills. - Field-based role with 4-5 days/week on active project sites. ### What Ecosystem offers - Annual base salary ranging from $85,000 - $100,000, with final compensation determined based on a candidate’s experience, technical expertise, and skillset, as well as geographic location. - 401K matching and comprehensive group insurance package (medical, dental, vision, life insurance, long term disability)— including a High-Deductible Health Plan (HDHP) option with no employee payroll deductions. - Paid time off per year: 10 public holidays, a minimum of 15 days of vacation, and 5 personal days. We have paid time off between December 25 and January 1 when our offices close for the holiday period for a well-earned break. - Lunch reimbursement and atypical construction schedule averaging of 40 to 45 hours per week. - Tailored career growth and development opportunities through mentorship, training, and career planning, with no cap. - Thriving people-first culture: we put our values in action in DEI, CSR, Innovation, and Social committees. We celebrate our successes together at Ecofest- watch the video [here](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hwnDpzNrcVU). ***Those who change the world don’t just make recommendations- they make decisions and act on them. This is what we do at Ecosystem.***
