Job Title: JV - Budget Accountant Department : Finance Directly Reports to: Lead Budget Accountant Indirectly Reports to : Country Finance Manager Job Summary The Joint Venture Accountant is responsible for providing support to the Lead Budget Accountant and providing support on the various JV financial and reporting obligations to stakeholders, analysis, and compliance within the oil and gas industry. This role focuses on budgeting, performance, cost recovery, joint venture accounting and supporting the Lead Budget Accountant.. Key Responsibilities Prepare and review monthly joint venture financial statements. Assist in the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and variance analyses. Reconcile accounts and resolve discrepancies. Monitor joint venture costs and expenditures to ensure accuracy and compliance. Allocate shared costs in accordance with joint venture agreements. Investigate and resolve cost allocation issues. Ensure all financial transactions comply with joint venture agreements and relevant accounting standards. Assist in preparing for audits and responding to auditor queries. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records for audit purposes. Participating and champion period end close. Liaise with joint venture partners, internal departments, and external stakeholders. Support the preparation of partner billings and cash calls. Address queries and provide financial insights to management and partners. Identify opportunities for process improvements and recommend solutions. Qualifications Key qualifications for this role are: Bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent related field Minimum of 5 years’ industry related experience with at least 3 years’ experience in a similar role Knowledge of joint venture accounting principles, practices, and procedures Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other accounting software Strong analytical and problem-solving skills Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with internal and external stakeholders Detail-oriented with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and deadlines Familiarity with IFRS or GAAP standards. Skilled at managing complex stakeholder relationships, including upward management with senior leadership. Communication & Business Influence Communicates financial insights clearly and confidently. Able to translate pricing impacts, financial risks, and budget implications for leadership and non‑financial partners, enabling informed decision‑making. Integrity & Internal Control Orientation Maintains strong internal controls, ensures compliance, and upholds high ethical standards. Approaches the role as a control and assurance function , not just data gathering or reporting, and reinforces governance throughout financial processes.
