Korean-Language News Team Leader - Seoul Bloomberg News is one of the biggest financial and business news organizations in the world. We are looking for an experienced journalist and editor to lead KBN, our Korean-language Bloomberg News service. KBN serves financial professionals in the FX and bond markets who rely on Bloomberg for trusted, market-moving news and analysis. Our team provides clients with a broad range of original and translated stories from Bloomberg's best journalism in Korea and abroad: real-time headlines on developments in the Middle East, granular details on how authorities are dealing with won weakness, exclusive reporting on Wall Street trends, insightful opinion on the breakneck rise of the Kospi and more. We’re looking for a Team Leader to focus the team's coverage priorities, raise the impact of its output and help us become the destination for the news that Korean clients cannot get anywhere else. The successful candidate will combine strong news judgment, a sense of urgency, excellent Korean-language editing and translation skills, deep understanding of financial markets, and the ability to guide a team of reporters and editors, including remote employees, toward higher-value journalism. This role is based in Seoul and will work closely with Bloomberg News editors and reporters across Korea, Asia and the global newsroom. We’ll trust you to: Bring a player-coach mentality to the role, providing guidance to team members while working on edits and translations alongside them Lead KBN’s day-to-day coverage planning, setting priorities according to news value, market relevance and client needs Edit and translate stories into clear and accurate Korean with compelling headlines Guide reporters to producing more exclusive content for both KBN and BN Be the key liaison between KBN and BN, ensuring important Korea-related exclusives, scoops, analysis, explainers and opinion pieces are translated quickly and effectively Help KBN move toward toward more targeted, high-impact output during peak Korea readership hours Oversee and help develop fixtures such as Five Things and Market Wraps to build reader habit Regularly review readership data and client feedback, and use those insights to adjust coverage, packaging and distribution Help the team incorporate AI responsibly to improve efficiency while maintaining our standards for accuracy, judgment and quality You’ll need to have: At least 5 years' experience as a journalist in financial, business or markets news Excellent Korean-language writing and editing skills Familiarity with a real-time news environment Strong English comprehension and the ability to translate complex Bloomberg News stories into Korean with accuracy, nuance and speed Sharp news judgment and the ability to act quickly on it Strong collaboration skills and the ability to work across bureaus, languages, time zones and coverage teams We’d love to see: Experience covering Korea’s financial markets, economy, companies or policy landscape Familiarity with the needs of terminal clients Experience with newsletters, recurring fixtures, market wraps, explainers or chart-driven journalism A strong understanding of what Korean-speaking investors, traders and analysts need from global financial news Experience using AI or automation tools to improve editorial workflows Ideas for making Korean-language Bloomberg News more discoverable and useful to clients Life at Bloomberg is many things, but it’s never dull.
