The Laboratory Technician I, using general laboratory methods, techniques, equipment, and instrumentation in compliance with Eurofins Environment Testing America’s Quality Assurance programs and standard operating procedures, supports laboratory operations through general maintenance of laboratory and supply storage areas, equipment, instruments, and supplies. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Retrieving samples from Sample Control for analysis. Performing sample preparation which may include, but is not limited to, a combination of the following methods: Aliquot samples Spike and trace samples Prepare reagents Bottle samples Prepare concentrations Separation Sonication Preparing water and soil samples for metals analysis. Performing digestions with concentrated acids Learning the Eurofins Laboratory Information Management System Learning the Mercury Analysis Liquid rack set up Resolving discrepancies and anomalies to ensure samples are properly labeled. Preparing general laboratory paperwork such as recording analysis results, tracking samples, bench sheets, and laboratory logbooks. Washing laboratory glassware to prepare for next day’s samples. Stocking laboratory supplies. Cleaning work area(s) to maintain a safe working environment. Assisting other laboratory areas as needed. The ideal candidate would possess : Comfortable with a fast-paced time sensitive laboratory work Ability to use calculator/mathematical formulas and concepts Ability to use TALS (Laboratory Information Management System) Ability to complete work within time and quality constraints Can work independently following written or verbal instructions Cooperate and coordinate both orally and in writing Full-time entry level position Mon-Fri schedule 12:00pm- 8:30pm Candidates living within a commutable distance of Edison, NJ are encouraged to apply. Compensation $17.50 plus eligible for benefits This is an entry level position, those looking to gain experience in a laboratory setting without a 4 year degree encouraged to apply. Basic Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent High school Chemistry coursework preferred. Basic laboratory experience preferred Previous production-oriented work helpful (awareness and ability to meet deadlines) Ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Samples will be in coolers packed in ice. Perform other duties as assigned Abilities/Skills: General knowledge of chemistry and/or general science Basic mathematical skills Production work Good organizational skills Good communication skills Problem solving skills Ability to muti-task Quick learner Work independently Work within time constraints Requirements: Authorization to work in the United States indefinitely without restriction or sponsorship Professional working proficiency in English is a requirement, including the ability to read, write and speak in English Position is full-time Monday – Friday 12:00pm - 8:30pm. Pay rate: $17.50/hr + a 5% shift differential Eurofins Environment Testing (USA) provides a compensation range for informational purposes, the actual base salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience and skill set, base salary of internal peers, business sector, and geographic location.
