Lead Engineer

Job description

We’re democratizing growth by making coaching a foundational right for every employee, everywhere. Combining human coaching, behavioral science, and technology - including AIMY™, our AI coach - we empower global enterprises to unlock their full potential. Backed by $330M in funding and a network of 3,500+ coaches across 90+ countries, CoachHub is redefining how the world learns and leads through personal, measurable, and scalable development. Joining us means stepping into a place where ownership is real, curiosity is fuel, and change is the norm. You'll work with teams who support each other, push boundaries, and take pride in building products that genuinely make a difference in people's lives. If you want your work to matter, not just as tasks but as impact felt by people every day, this is where you thrive. **Lead Engineer** **Location:** 100% Remote from Spain or Germany **The Opportunity** We are looking for an entrepreneurial, hands-on Lead Engineer to guide our core development team as we design, build and scale the next generation of our global coaching platform. This is a unique opportunity to lead a highly collaborative, fast-paced team that is actively defining what it means to build an AI-first engineering culture. If you are a seasoned player-coach who wants to help lead the charge in establishing new engineering practices while keeping a direct, hands-on impact on our codebase, this is the role for you. **What You'll Do** - **Empower & Mentor:** Lead and grow a high-performing team of frontend, backend and full-stack engineers through active mentorship. - **Stay in the Code:** Remain an active individual contributor, writing clean code, orchestrating AI agents and running technical reviews. - **Champion AI-First Engineering:** Introduce agentic coding practices at a scale most engineers have never seen before, and help every engineer on the team make the most of them. - **Set Technical Direction:** Maintain rigorous architectural standards and high quality as AI tools write a growing share of our codebase. - **Collaborate Across Teams:** Work closely with Product and our Infrastructure counterparts (Data, DevOps and QA). **Your First Year** - **Months 1 to 3, Deliver & Lead:** Get to know our platform, team and clients, take ownership of the smooth delivery of an upgraded UI. - **By Month 6, Build the AI Foundations:** Set up advanced agentic coding loops and autonomous agents that catch and fix bugs, accelerate client feedback loops and rapidly unlock the feature backlog. - **By Month 12, Take AI Beyond the Product:** Collaborate across the business (Sales, Marketing, HR, Legal, Finance) to design and build custom AI-native tools that simplify work and drive efficiency across all of CoachHub. **What You Bring** - **Deep Technical Roots:** 8+ years in software engineering. You built your foundations before the AI era, so you know what robust software architecture looks like, and you've since learned to build it far faster with AI. - **An AI-Native Mindset:** You use tens of agents, Claude Code, Cursor or similar tools daily, understand agentic workflows, and have automated tasks you used to do by hand. - **Scale-Up Traction:** At least the last 1–2 years in a fast-growing scale-up. You know how to collaborate across teams and avoid the shortcuts of solo hacking. - **Full-Stack Mastery:** Deep, production-level experience with TypeScript/JavaScript across the stack (React, Node.js, NestJS, Next.js). - **True Player-Coach:** 2+ years of formal engineering leadership (1:1s, performance, team alignment) while staying hands-on with code within the last two years. - **Thinker & Doer:** You can move from strategic alignment with Product to rapidly debugging a critical system. You're proactive and solve problems before they escalate. - **Relentless Curiosity:** You genuinely enjoy what you do. You experiment with new tools for the fun of it, build things just to see what's possible, and follow the latest breakthroughs in AI with real excitement. - **English Fluency:** Excellent written and spoken communication. **Our Tech Stack** TypeScript, JavaScript, Node.js, NestJS, React, Next.js, React Native · PostgreSQL, MongoDB · Kafka · Docker, Kubernetes · Jest, Cypress · GitHub Actions · Claude Code, Cursor **What We Offer** - **Grow through coaching & doing:** Access to your own certified coach, AIMY (our AI coach), and stretch opportunities beyond your role. - **100% Remote Work:** Enjoy the flexibility to work remotely from anywhere within your country of employment, with occasional opportunities to work from abroad, subject to approval. - **Time off that matters:** Enjoy 30 days of annual leave, plus an additional Volunteering Day to give back to a cause you care about. - **Thrive in change:** No boring days; we experiment, test, and learn. Agile ways of working, recognition for fresh ideas. - **Purpose in every role:** Mission-driven work that changes lives, not just business results. **Our Commitment to Inclusive Hiring** At CoachHub, we’re building a workplace where everyone can thrive. We welcome people of all backgrounds, identities, and lived experiences - because diverse teams create better ideas, deeper empathy, and bigger impact. If you’re excited about the role but don’t tick every box, we encourage you to apply. **Growth starts with taking a chance.** **About CoachHub** CoachHub is the global leader in digital and AI coaching that enables organizations to create personalized, measurable and scalable coaching programs for their entire workforce, regardless of department and seniority level.
