Job description
Job Title: Lead Estimator – Commercial General Contractor Company Info: Over 25 years, PDC has built a reputation as a reliable and diversified family-owned construction company. Job Summary: The Lead Estimator for General Contractor projects is responsible for producing accurate and timely estimates to create a healthy backlog of commercial projects. This position leads estimation while working with executives, project managers, and field managers to complete successful projects in all phases, from pre-construction to closeout. General Responsibilities: Create and maintain a full bid schedule by working with PDC team members as needed to source leads and determine which leads to pursue. Work with customers and PDC team members to help determine project feasibility, scope, and duration. Actively participate in project pre-bid meetings, site visits, and post-bid interviews as required. Thoroughly understand all project documents and submit RFIs to owners, architects, or engineers as needed. Solicit for subcontractor bids by submitting digital ITBs (iSqFt or other). Evaluate subcontractor proposals and scopes of work. Perform accurate and organized quantity takeoffs digitally (Plan Swift or other). Evaluate special conditions that affect cost and price, such as site conditions, schedule, access, market conditions, etc. Build comprehensive and accurate estimates in software (B2W or other). Follow quality control and quality assurance measures to ensure estimate accuracy. Prepare and submit bid or proposal documents as required within due dates. Follow-up post-bid with owners or other stakeholders to maximize the potential for award, record feedback, and provide feedback to suppliers, subs, etc. For awarded projects, work with PDC team members to prepare for construction, understand the budget, aid in buy-out and price change orders as needed throughout the project duration.
