(Option to have Mon, Tues, or Wed be the later day). Pay Range: $59.00 - $88.50 Our Training Director/Lead Psychologist role specifically will be supporting our Trauma Recovery Center (TRC). To find out more information on the TRC, please visit: The TRC is across 2 locations, one in Northern Illinois (Gurnee, IL - 1445 N Hunt Club Rd), and one on the south side of Chicago (Evergreen Park, IL - 9730 S Western Ave). There is flexibility between both offices, but at minimum once a week at our south site. Major Responsibilities: 1) Management of Psychology Residency and Graduate Student Training. Directs and manages the outpatient clinic training program. Maintains an active interest and participation in the professional field at all levels. Maintains excellent communication with graduate schools throughout the country; networks with training directors of accredited programs. Continues to increase the visibility of the psychology, social work and addictions practicum experiences available through Behavioral Health services with training programs throughout the nation. Responsible for planning, direction and coordination of ambulatory behavioral health psychology internship and graduate student training activities. Responsible for the clinical and administrative functions of the training program to ensure clinical excellence, patient and trainee satisfaction. Ensures that the orientation and supervisory functions promote compliance with state, certification, licensure, accreditation and APPIC standards; maintains APA accreditation. Reviews procedures and protocols for the training program; monitors compliance by observation, verbal report, electronic and written clinical record documentation to ensure quality services. Monitors the productivity of trainees to ensure proper utilization of staff and trainee resources. Develops and implements short and long range goals and objectives to ensure that the training program meets present and future training and clinical demands. Annually recruits trainees taking into consideration clinical interests, clinical competencies, schedule availability and language skills to meet the strategic needs of the Department. Monitors and documents the performance of trainees. 2) Behavioral Health Outcomes: Analyzes trends or innovations in the behavioral health fields and integrates these into the continuum of care. Develops and provides services within primary care environments; develops protocols; enhances the visibility of embedded behavioral health services among healthcare providers. Recommends practice protocols, changes in program operations and implements projects and initiatives; continues to develop and improve processes that deliver services to children, adolescents and adults with mental illness, addictions or emotional-behavioral conditions. Monitors and coaches with regard to professional standards that support the delivery of quality services. Develops, implements, monitors performance improvement and measurement based care initiatives in order to measure outcomes, correct identified deficiencies, improve quality and efficiency, meet the needs of patients and improve patient satisfaction. Conducts diagnostic assessments; implements recommended interventions. Provides specialized evaluations. Facilitates management of complicated psychiatric events. Provides brief, problem oriented, family systems and other therapeutic services. Teaches and coaches clinicians to practice in innovative ways utilizing digital technologies, telehealth and measurement based care. 3) Supervision: Provides direction and leadership to ensure efficient and effective clinical operations that support the provision of quality services. Stimulates the development and maintenance of professional standards for clinicians. Provides supervision of the supervisory process. Provides supervision of the diagnostic evaluation, treatment planning, treatment process and other professional duties. Directs trainees and supervisors on approaches to patient needs; suggests alternative approaches for the resolution of problems. Assesses performance by monitoring the quality and quantity of trainee clinical and supportive interventions. Ensures timely and accurate completion of forms, case recording and reports provided by the trainees; reviews and provides reports as required. Actively incorporates into process improvements how the billing process impacts the therapeutic process. Fosters an environment of care where trainees as well as staff advance to further levels of competency. Works positively toward maintaining the motivation and morale of trainees, supervisors and other staff. 4) Department and Training Activities: Actively participates in departmental and hospital quality assurance, accreditation, performance improvement (PI) activities and other special projects. Demonstrates active involvement in supervision as evidenced by constructive participation, initiative and apparent effort. Maintains the safety log and facility by monitoring and reporting needs to the designated person. Identifies professional goals and enhances job-related skills through staff development activities. Remains current on trends in clinical theory and practice. 5) Professional Development: Provides leadership, orientation and training for clinical and non-clinical staff to develop and maintain skills in evidence-based treatments. Establishes professional development priorities through needs assessments and recommendations from all levels of staff. Identifies resources to deliver an annual staff development calendar for training. Provides comprehensive orientation and ongoing professional development opportunities for trainees. Develops professional development workshops for staff clinicians. Maintains working knowledge of research activities in clinical education. Licensure: Licensed Clinical Psychologist with the State of Illinois. Education/Experience Required: Doctoral degree in Psychology. Five years prior experience working in behavioral healthcare with multiple programs and funding sources. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required: Proven leadership skills in the delivery of public and commercial behavioral health services. Good communication, and team building skills; effective professional relationships with public and private funders; strong clinical skills. Demonstrated competence in administration of alcohol, substance abuse and mental health services to children, adolescents and adults. Competence in delivering behavioral health care in a commercial, managed care environment. Knowledge of current models of clinical care and evidence based practice Clinical Competence – ability to integrate psychological theory, research and practice. Ability to analyze, conceptualize, implement, monitor and evaluate program/administrative activities. Strong knowledge and skills for behavioral health assessments of all ages. Strong PC skills Ability to deliver presentations to diverse audiences on behavioral healthcare topics. Physical Requirements and Working Conditions: Ability to work flexibly in a fast-paced, changing environment with multiple tasks, time constraints and in difficult situations. Demonstrated problem-solving ability. Ability to travel to other Advocate facilities, government offices, other DMH and provider sites in Chicago in order to attend meetings. Ability to form excellent working relationships with clinical staff, clinical supervisors of trainees, support staff and managers. May be exposed to bodily fluids or life threatening diseases. May be exposed to patients who potentially could be violent; has knowledge of techniques to de-escalate verbal and physically aggressive behavior. Ability to work under time constraints, in clinically complex situations. Familiarity with the roles and functioning of other providers in the network of child, adult and family behavioral health services, the network of primary care and in the substance abuse treatment (city, state, federal) network Ability to flex hours and provide emergency coverage in order to meet patient care needs. Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance. For patient lifts of over 35 pounds, or when patient is unable to assist with the lift, patient handling equipment is expected to be used with at least one other associate, when available.
