Legal Billing Specialist (Law Firm Experience Required, Pacific Time Hours)

**Who We're Looking For…** Tyson & Mendes is looking for a Legal Billing Specialist to join our Accounting Department. A successful candidate has relative experience working in a law office or professional services firm. The Legal Billing Specialist is responsible for editing, compiling, and submitting attorney billing. Expectations for this candidate are inclusive of, but not limited to, proficiency with Microsoft Office, knowledge of client-based electronic billing platforms, and experience with Elite 3E (or a comparable legal billing software). Successful candidates must be comfortable communicating with staff, attorneys, clients and vendors in both written and verbal methods. **Responsibilities** - Review and edit pre-bills in response to attorney requests; execute preparatory tasks necessary to submit bills electronically, split bills between clients, apply retainer funds, etc. - Compile and bill attorney/paralegal hours to firm clients based on clients’ guideline. - Submit electronic bills through billing websites; resolve any submission issues. - Maintain the ability to produce a high volume of bills per cycle. - Ability to review/confirm accuracy of billing and supporting documentation as necessary. - Demonstrate a willingness to research, troubleshoot and respond to billing issue inquiries. - Effectively utilize billing guidelines provided by clients; ensure accuracy and adhere to client expectations inclusive of rates, billing frequency, cost management, etc. - Communicate regularly with Billing Manager to ensure billing expectations are met. - Work collaboratively with other Billing Specialists to establish short and long-term projects/initiatives related to billing. - Handle billing exceptions and ensures timely submission of bills while working closely with professional staff. - Understand technical aspects of billing software and troubleshoot any issues with billing software. **Requirements** - 3+ years billing experience at a professional services firm, legal billing experience required. - Demonstrate proficiency with Microsoft Office products (emphasis on Excel and Outlook). - Experience with legal billing software; preferably Elite 3E. - Experience with third party administrative systems, eBilling Hub or similar application. - Ability to multitask, organize workflow, and use time efficiently. - Ability to prioritize, anticipate work needs, and show strong attention to detail. - Experienced with electronic billing, invoice submissions, budgeting, and timekeeper requests. - Excellent verbal and written communication skills. - Ability to maintain calm disposition in high stress environment. - Willingness to learn; flexibility to adapt to all situations. - **Associate's degree preferred**, but not required. **Compensation Package** - The hourly pay range of $32-36/hour, depending on experience - Overtime paid at 1.5× the regular hourly rate, as needed - Comprehensive benefits coverage offered, including plans available at zero employee cost (average annual employee contribution for health/vision/dental coverage is $700-1,700) - Employee Assistance Program through HealthAdvocate - Employees receive a monthly technology reimbursement of $60 - Employees benefit from a 401(k) program that includes a 100% match on the first 3% contributed and a 50% match on the following 4-5% - Vacation time is accrued annually at the employee’s base rate - Paid parental leave at base pay **Benefits** - 37.5-hour standard workweek designed to promote balance and prevent burnout - Educational reimbursement program for non-attorney eligible team members (up to $3,500 per calendar year) - Internal diversity and inclusion programs, such as the Women’s Initiative and Young Professionals Initiative - Firm-wide charitable giving program - Numerous social and off-site events each year to enrich your relationships with your colleagues **About Tyson & Mendes** Click here to learn more about the Tyson & Mendes Office!
