Job description
## About Us We are building AI-driven legal and compliance technology that will redefine how companies navigate regulation and manage compliance. Our mission is ambitious and global. With a founding team that has previously founded, scaled, and exited technology companies with billion-dollar outcomes, we’re creating something transformative and need the best minds to join us. ## The Role This is not a traditional in-house position, but a strategic and product-focused role where your legal expertise will directly influence the technology we build. As a Legal Engineer, you will play a foundational role in shaping both our product and how we serve our customers. You’ll work at the heart of a fast-moving team to help develop a best-in-class AI product while ensuring legal integrity and professional excellence. ## Key Responsibilities Be a core member of the product team, bringing legal thinking into every stage of product development. Translate complex law and legal practice into product logic, including the rules, concepts, relationships, context and logic our systems need to understand. Work closely with engineers and designers to turn that understanding into concrete product functionality - including requirements, knowledge and context structures, workflows, user journeys, test cases and evaluations. Use the product extensively to identify failure modes, edge cases and opportunities to improve how it handles legal work. You will also act as an expert for our first customers, gather feedback to inform product decisions, and help establish our company as a thought leader in AI and legal and compliance tech. ## Who You Are You are a hardworking and technically excellent lawyer who thinks conceptually and structurally about law and its application. You are interested not only in what the law says, but in how rules, exceptions, facts and legal concepts fit together, and you have an intuition for breaking complex legal problems into clear and workable structures - and do so as an independent problem-solver, someone who can take something fairly undefined, work out how to approach it and design a solution that lands in a clear and concrete output. We think you have worked 3+ years in a top-tier legal environment (e.g., leading law firm or in-house at a high-performing company) with experience of advising on regulatory frameworks, but dedication and fit matters more than tenure. You have a solid understanding of *using* frontier AI. You have spent meaningful time using and experimenting with current AI systems and understand their capabilities and limitations. You do not need to be a software engineer or have experience with coding tools, but you should be comfortable thinking about - or curious in learning - concepts such as context, prompting, agents, workflows and evaluation. Your legal specialization itself isn't the key factor. What matters more is your ability to move across legal domains, learn quickly and apply rigorous legal thinking to new problems. You thrive in high-performance environments and have a track record of delivering exceptional results. Experience from other legal jurisdictions, such as the US, UK, France or Germany, is a merit but not a requirement. This is an opportunity to join a company at the ground level and have a real impact on the future of legal technology. If you're looking for a challenge that pushes the boundaries of law and AI, we'd love to hear from you. In-office in Stockholm, Sweden (unless exceptional circumstances).
