Join the Wachter family and chart your career path!** We are seeking an experienced Low-Voltage **Fiber & Data** Technician with expert capabilities in **single-mode and multi-mode fiber fusion splicing and testing** to drive our hands-on installation projects forward. This position is ideal for a highly organized professional who possesses strong communication skills and the ability to accurately read and execute blueprints. Dedicated to **remodels and new store rollouts**, this role requires complete flexibility with working **day or night shifts**, as well as **extensive travel for up to 12 weeks** at a time to support diverse nationwide project timelines. ### Why Choose Wachter: - Full-time work - Competitive Compensation based on experience - Paid weekly - Per-Diem paid when overnight travel is required - Company-provided cell phone - Company vehicle provided, in some cases, after initial 2-4 weeks of employment - Drive time and mileage paid for use of personal vehicle when travel is required - Paid Vacation and Holidays - Opportunities for certification and career advancement - Supportive team environment ### Benefits Package, Company paid: - Medical, Dental, Prescription & Vision Benefits--No premium cost! - Life, AD&D and LTD insurance - Paid Vacation and Holidays - Company-Matched 401(k) and IRA Retirement Savings ### Key Responsibilities: - **Large-Scale Cabling Deployments**: Pull and route up to 300 copper cables and 8,000 to 10,000 feet of fiber optic cabling per new store install - **Advanced Fiber Splicing & Testing**: Perform precision interior multi-mode fusion splicing and exterior/underground single-mode fusion splicing for main structures and external assets like fuel stations. - **Site Infrastructure Setup**: Mount, secure, and terminate up to 4 Intermediate Distribution Frames (IDFs) directly in ceiling spaces. - **Device & Network Installations**: Mount and connect network switches, wireless access points (WAPs), VoIP phones, computers, printers, and auxiliary equipment. - **Department Re-Cabling & Relocation**: Efficiently add, move, and relocate existing copper infrastructure during active retail department remodels. - **Site Coordination & Planning**: Interface directly with General Contractors (GCs) and adjacent MEP trades on-site to ensure smooth build progression. - **Post-Installation Validation**: Conduct full wireless surveys and comprehensive cable testing upon completion of both remodel and new construction projects. - **Documentation & Reporting**: Utilize a laptop to accurately document, track, and share technical test results with management and clients. - **Aerial Work:** Operate BOOM and/or scissor lifts to work at heights up to 40+ feet. ### Qualifications & Requirements: - **Experience:** 2–5 years of hands-on experience in low-voltage systems, structured cabling, networking, and CCTV. - **Technical Knowledge:** Strong understanding of fiber optic termination, network infrastructure, and Point-of-Sale (POS) deployment/troubleshooting. - **Licensing:** Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record (no DUI/DWI in the last 3 years). - **Transportation:** Reliable personal transportation. - **Tools:** Must possess basic telecom tools and standard Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). - **Leadership:** Comfortable working independently and collaboratively alongside GCs and other commercial trades - **Schedule & Travel Flexibility**: Must be willing and able to travel continuously for up to 12 weeks and maintain full flexibility for both day and night shift rotations. ### Highly Desirable Skills (Preferred but Not Required) - Industry certifications: BICSI, OSHA, MSHA, AVIXA CTS, Panduit, Belden, or Corning. - Hands-on experience with fusion splicing. - Experience running DSX cable certification testing.
