Description of Work Reporting to the Facility Maintenance Supervisor, this position is responsible for performing preventive and routine corrective maintenance tasks and ensuring that assigned systems, equipment and facilities are maintained in a safe and efficient manner at a multi-custody female correctional facility. Other job responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following: 1. Possessing multiple trade skills to allow individual to deal with a variety of maintenance tasks that will be dealt with on a routine basis, such as emergency generators, gate operators, plumbing systems, electrical systems, and security doors. 2. Preparing preventive maintenance reports and maintaining inventory of repair parts. 3. Functioning at two journey levels, one for Mechanical/Plumbing and the other preferably HVAC/Refrigeration while performing at the semi-skilled and unskilled level in other trades. 4. Supervising semi-skilled and unskilled labor, including offenders to assist in completing tasks. 5. Following oral and written instructions. 6. Performing heavy physical tasks for extended periods of time. 7. Understanding and working from sketches or penciled drawings. 8. Reading and interpreting building codes and blueprints. Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences Candidates now meet the minimum qualifications of a position if they meet the Minimum Education and Experience listed on the vacancy announcement. About Anson Correctional Institution Anson Correctional Institution houses female offenders in medium and close custody housing units. Anson CI offers a wide variety of educational, vocational, and training programs. Correction Enterprises operates the offender packaging operation at Anson, a partnership with Union Supply Direct through the Prison Industry Enhancement Program (PIE). Family and friends can order a package of goods from a pre-approved shopping list to send to an offender.
