Job description
**Job Duties:** - Greet patients and introduce self in a professional and compassionate manner. - Prepare patients for mammography exams by assisting with changing, completing paperwork, and explaining basic procedures. - Escort patients to and from exam rooms and throughout the department as needed. - Ensure all required forms, questionnaires, and documentation are completed accurately prior to exams. - Review patient worksheets and verify completeness before technologist begins exam. - Assist with maintaining patient flow and minimizing wait times. - Communicate effectively with technologists, radiologists, and front desk staff regarding patient status and needs. - Assist in scheduling, rescheduling, and confirming patient appointments. - Verify exam orders and ensure patients are scheduled for the correct procedures (screening vs. diagnostic, mammogram vs. ultrasound) - Request and track prior imaging studies; ensure proper documentation and patient authorizations are completed. - Update exam statuses in tracking systems (e.g., tech start/end, unread exams, awaiting comparison) - Complete and maintain exam documentation, including notes, worksheets, and system entries. - Ensure proper assignment of exams to technologists and radiologists. - Maintain cleanliness and organization of exam rooms, dressing rooms, and waiting areas. - Stock supplies such as gowns, linens, and wipes. - Assist with preparation for specialized procedures such as stereotactic biopsies as directed. - Provide patients with pre-exam and post-exam instructions. - Ensure compliance with safety, infection control, and patient confidentiality standards. - Perform other duties as assigned to support departmental operations. **Education and Experience:** - High school diploma or equivalent required - 0–2 years of experience in a healthcare, radiology, or patient care setting preferred - Previous experience in imaging services or women’s health is a plus. - Familiarity with electronic medical record (EMR) systems preferred. - Minimum of 1 year of experience in mammography preferred (may vary by employer) - Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification - Bilingual (e.g., English/Spanish) preferred but not required **Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:** - Basic understanding of mammography procedures and workflow (screening and diagnostic) - Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to provide compassionate care to patients in sensitive situations. - Effective verbal and written communication skills - Strong organizational skills and attention to detail - Ability to multitask and prioritize in a fast-paced clinical environment. - Ability to follow instructions and seek guidance when needed. - Proficiency with computers and medical documentation systems - Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to HIPAA regulations. - Team-oriented with the ability to collaborate effectively with clinical and administrative staff. - Physical ability to stand and walk frequently, assist patients, and lift up to 40 pounds. *Please note this job description is not designed to contain a comprehensive list of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job.
