Manager, Strategy & Operations

Job description

**Come join our Strategy & Operations team!** **High velocity, high trust, and high impact with a will to win.** If that resonates deeply with you, this could be your next career move. We're seeking someone who leads with humility, pursues audacious goals, and is motivated by meaningful impact on people and the world. At FutureFit AI, our core mission is to help more people get to better jobs faster and cheaper, with a specific focus on those facing barriers to opportunity. Our work helps resolve the growing issue of economic inequality, ensuring that no one is left behind in the future of work. Our AI-powered platform brings efficiency and insight to workforce development, replacing outdated systems and unlocking human potential at scale. Ready to make an impact? Apply today. Important note: Data shows that men typically apply when meeting 3/10 requirements, while women often wait until it's 10/10. We encourage you to apply if you see a strong (not necessarily perfect) fit. ## **Your Role** We're seeking a Manager, Strategy & Operations to join our team, reporting to Katya Simpson, VP, Strategy and Ops. You will be the operating backbone of the leadership team. You will run the rhythm that keeps the company aligned, keep the numbers everyone argues from shared and trusted, and own the contract and risk operations that let us move fast without dropping anything. This is a hands-on, high-ownership role in a small, nimble company. It blends business judgment with disciplined execution, and you will have wide latitude to decide how the operating system of the company gets built. A note on what this role is: it is a roll-up-your-sleeves seat. Most of the work is operating cadence, tracking, and administration, and strategy is a real but lighter part of it. If you are looking for a pure strategy role, this is not it. If you want to be the person who makes a leadership team run well and sharpens its judgment, read on. ## **What You'll Own** - **Management cadence and enablement (about 30%):** Run the operating rhythm of the management team, the exec team, and the operating review: agendas, pre-reads, a lightweight decision log, and follow-through on what was decided. Produce board and investor meetings, assembling the decks and investor packages from numbers the Director of Finance owns. Partner with the Director of People to plan company onsites and team gatherings from start to finish. - **Measurement, tools, and risk (about 25%):** Maintain the company's metrics and OKR tracking so performance conversations start from shared numbers. Keep the tools inventory and licensing in order, along with a risk register and a compliance calendar. - **Legal and contract operations (about 30%):** Take the first pass on NDAs and standard agreements against a playbook, and route anything non-standard to outside counsel with a clear brief. Maintain the contract repository and an obligations tracker covering renewals, notice periods, and government reporting deliverables, so nothing slips. Run vendor onboarding and corporate records, including entity and cap table hygiene in Carta. - **Strategic projects (about 15%):** Take on scoped projects for the leadership team: dig into an issue the metrics surface, frame the options and tradeoffs, and recommend a path to a decision. This is real strategy work, but it is the lighter share of the role. ## **What Success Looks Like in the First 6-12 Months** - The weekly management meeting runs on a clear agenda and pre-reads, leaders arrive prepared, and decisions and actions are logged and followed through without anyone chasing. - Company OKRs and metrics are tracked on a steady rhythm, and you are surfacing the items that need leadership attention before anyone has to ask. You are supporting the rollout of the company-wide health dashboard as it comes online. - NDA intake is yours: every incoming NDA is reviewed, risks are identified, and anything non-standard reaches outside counsel with a clear brief. Nothing we have signed goes untracked. - You have taken at least one strategic project from framing to a leadership decision. - Leaders across Build, Grow, and Manage see you as the person who keeps things moving and can be trusted with judgment calls. ## **Who You Are** - You roll up your sleeves. You are as comfortable building the agenda and chasing the pre-read as you are framing a recommendation, and you see enablement as high-leverage work. - You have business judgment. You know what to fix yourself, what to flag, and what to escalate. - You are a generalist at heart who learns fast. You may have come up through business operations, strategy and operations, strategic finance, or consulting, or through legal ops or HR looking to broaden into something new. You are drawn to breadth and want to grow into more strategy, or into the legal work. - You earn trust across functions. You work easily with leaders in Build, Grow, and Manage, and with outside counsel. - You own it. You turn decisions into owned actions and follow through without being chased. ## **Required Experience** - 3+ years in business operations, strategy and operations, strategic finance, or consulting - Comfort with numbers: you can work from financial and operating metrics, spot what needs leadership attention, and flag it clearly - Comfort with contracts: you can read an NDA or standard agreement, identify risk, and know what to escalate (legal training is not required) - Clear written and verbal communication: you can brief outside counsel, prepare an executive pre-read, and explain a tradeoff to a non-specialist - High attention to detail across many moving parts, including trackers, calendars, repositories, and records ## **Bonus Points** - Exposure to contract or legal operations (a strong plus) - Experience supporting board and investor reporting - Familiarity with Carta or cap table management - Experience building lightweight systems (decision logs, risk registers, compliance calendars) from scratch ## **Location** Remote across the US and Canada. We are open to candidates living anywhere in either country, with at least 5 to 6 hours of daily overlap with our EST-based team required. For candidates living in Toronto, our office is conveniently located at 325 Front St West (a short walk from Union Station), and you are welcome to drop by, though it is entirely optional and not a hybrid requirement. ## **Travel Expectations** Although this role is remote, quarterly travel is required for off-sites and team gatherings. ## **Compensation** The base salary range for this role is USD $120,000 to $180,000 for candidates based in the United States and CAD $120,000 to $170,000 for candidates based in Canada. Bands are designed for the lifecycle of the role. Where you enter the band reflects your applied experience and other criteria established by the hiring committee, with room to grow through the band as you grow in the role. ## **Hiring Journey** At FutureFit AI, our hiring process is designed to help you assess whether this role and our culture are the right fit based on your unique skills, mindset, and experiences. We move fast and work with intensity, so we want you to get a real sense of that from the start. Each journey includes a mix of interviews and a short business exercise. For this role, that might look like: - Online Application - Initial Screen with our Recruiter - Interview with Hiring Manager - Short Business Case Exercise - Panel Interview - Final Conversation - Final Decision Generally, this entire process takes around 6 weeks, although the timing can vary due to specific candidate circumstances. ## **Ready to shape the future of work?** At FutureFit AI, we're not just building a company—we're transforming how talent and opportunity connect. Join our driven team united by a commitment to job seekers and the workforce ecosystems we serve. ## **Company Snapshot:** - **Team:** 30-50 across US and Canada (hubs in NYC and Toronto) - **Customers:** Workforce development agencies and intermediaries, government agencies, employers - **Industry:** SaaS/AI technology - **Funding:** Bootstrapped 0-1, then raised funding led by JP Morgan - **Structure:** Growth, Customer Success, Product, Engineering, Data, People & Culture, Finance & Operations ## **Our Core Principles** - Be Curious - Drive to Outcomes - Raise the Bar - Speed Matters - Own It - We Over Me ## **Use of AI in Hiring** At FutureFit, we use artificial intelligence (AI) tools to make our hiring process more efficient, consistent, and equitable—never to replace human judgment. We use AI in the following ways: - **Screening support:** AI may help us compare applications against the skills and experience required for a specific role. These skills are defined by the hiring team for each position. A human reviews each application, with the AI assessment as just one input. - **Interview support:** In some interviews, we may use an AI notetaker to summarize the discussion so interviewers can focus on being present in the conversation. - **Insights, not decisions:** AI provides data points to support our team’s evaluation but does not make or recommend final hiring decisions. Every hiring decision is made by people. *We will ensure that individuals with disabilities are provided reasonable accommodation to participate in the job application or interview process, perform essential job functions, and receive other benefits and privileges of employment.
