Manager, Tax Technology — DoorDash Tax Platform & Business Projects

  ## About the Team - DoorDash is looking for an experienced Manager, Tax Technology to lead tax platform and business projects on the DoorDash side of our growing Tax Team, with an emphasis on new integrations — new verticals, new merchants, and new product launches. This role sits at the intersection of tax, product, engineering, and the Vertex Center of Excellence — turning business and tax requirements into configured, tested, live capabilities. - As DoorDash continues to grow across new verticals and merchants, we are looking for a candidate who combines indirect tax knowledge with the ability to translate business and tax requirements into clear functional system requirements, lead cross-functional delivery, and develop a team. ## About the Role - You will report to the Senior Manager of the Tax Calculation Platform & Mx Operations and lead tax platform and business projects on the DoorDash platform. You will partner closely with Tax Engineering, Tax Advisory & Planning (TAP), Tax Product, and other stakeholders — gathering business and tax requirements, translating them into tax-system functional requirements for the Vertex Center of Excellence (CoE) to configure, and reviewing Technical Design Documents (TDDs) to provide functional tax expertise back to Tax Engineering. - The primary focus of this position is end-to-end delivery of tax features and new-vertical / new-merchant / new-product launches on the DoorDash platform, grounded in US sales and use tax, Canada GST/HST/PST, and Australia and New Zealand GST, across food and beverage and retail tax context, with an understanding of how data flows from upstream systems through the tax engine to downstream reporting. ## You’re excited about this opportunity because you will… - Lead tax platform and business projects on the DoorDash platform, including new vertical launches, business and enterprise merchant launches, and new product launches. - Gather business and tax requirements from TAP, Tax Product, and business stakeholders, and translate them into tax-system functional requirements for the Vertex CoE. - Review BRDs, PRDs, and TDDs for tax-system implications and provide functional tax expertise back to Tax Engineering. - Define testing requirements and oversee test validations across unit, integration, E2E, shadow, and post-launch phases. - Trace tax-relevant data from upstream systems through Vertex to downstream reporting, and flag gaps or risks. - Validate operational and system readiness for production releases and document post-launch lessons learned. - Serve as a functional bridge between non-tax tech stakeholders (e.g., TAP, Engineering, Product) and the technical tax technology teams (e.g., Vertex CoE). - Lead and develop the offshore team — allocating workload, establishing QA checkpoints, and providing structured knowledge transfer on complex processes. ## We’re excited about you because… - You have 6+ years of indirect tax or indirect tax technology experience. - You are well versed in US sales and use tax, with experience across Canada GST/HST/PST and Australia and New Zealand GST, and food and beverage and retail tax context. - Experience implementing or configuring Vertex O Series or a similar tax engine. - You can translate business and tax requirements into functional system requirements and review technical and functional design documents. - Direct engagement with engineering teams on product development. - You understand how tax data flows from upstream transaction systems through a tax engine to downstream reporting systems. - Project management experience, including creation of project charter, project plans, milestones, gantt charts, RAID log, and timelines/due dates. - You have experience with productivity programs (Microsoft Office; Google Sheets, Docs, and Slides). - Experience in use of Alteryx and API testing tools like Postman, SOAP UI and ability to read XML and JSON logs. - Accounting, Finance, Information Technology, or Computer Science degree. - You are fluent in leveraging multiple AI tools on the market (e.g., Claude Cowork, ChatGPT, Gemini, Cursor) on a daily basis across all of your assigned tasks, and you actively look for creative ways to apply them to enhance processes and create efficiency gains. ## Nice to Haves - Familiarity with Marketplace Facilitator laws. - Experience with Snowflake, SQL and data reconciliation tools. - Demonstrated people-leadership or team-lead experience, including coaching, workload delegation, and quality oversight. # **About DoorDash** At DoorDash, our mission to empower local economies shapes how our team members move quickly, learn, and reiterate in order to make impactful decisions that display empathy for our range of users—from Dashers to merchant partners to consumers.
