Materials Planning Specialist

Whether you’re an experienced professional or just starting out, you’ll have the opportunity to contribute, grow, and make a lasting impact on industries that power the world’s most dynamic markets. **Position Summary** The Materials Planning Specialist is responsible for planning and managing material requirements to support production schedules, ensuring optimal inventory levels while minimizing carrying costs and preventing material shortages. **Key Responsibilities** - Develop and maintain material requirements planning (MRP) for production schedules - Analyze demand forecasts and production plans to determine material needs - Generate and release purchase requisitions and work orders for materials - Monitor inventory levels and establish reorder points and safety stock levels - Coordinate with suppliers and purchasing to ensure timely material delivery - Resolve material shortage issues and expedite critical items - Manage slow-moving and obsolete inventory - Collaborate with production, engineering, and quality teams on material specifications - Conduct analysis to optimize inventory investment and turnover - Maintain accurate bill of materials (BOM) and routing information - Track supplier performance metrics including on-time delivery and quality - Participate in new product introduction and material qualification processes **Qualifications** - Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, or related field preferred - 3-5 years of materials planning or supply chain experience - Strong proficiency with ERP/MRP systems (SAP, Oracle, or similar) - Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail - Knowledge of inventory management principles and lean manufacturing concepts - Strong Excel skills including pivot tables, VLOOKUP, and data analysis - APICS certification (CPIM or CSCP) preferred - Excellent communication and negotiation skills - Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment [Compensation Range: $33.00 - 43.00/hr CAD] **Why Join IEM** At IEM, you’ll join a team that powers some of the world’s most ambitious projects.
