Progress has never felt so present. **Position Overview** Own design, integration, and early validation of new mechanical hardware for large autonomous vehicles. ### Key Responsibilities - Design, prototype, and validate mechanical systems and components for autonomous trucking platforms - Create detailed CAD models and engineering drawings for fabrication and assembly - Work hands-on in the shop to build, modify, and test hardware - Collaborate cross-functionally with electrical, software, and systems engineers - Support integration of sensors, compute hardware, and vehicle subsystems - Conduct root cause analysis and implement design improvements - Develop and execute test plans (bench and vehicle-level) - Manage parts sourcing, fabrication vendors, and assembly processes - Contribute to rapid iteration cycles and field deployments ### Required Qualifications - Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipline - **2+ years of relevant industry or internship experience** - Strong hands-on experience with shop tools, including: - Manual mill and lathe - Laser cutter - Power tools (drills, grinders, etc.) - Proficiency in CAD (SolidWorks preferred) - Familiarity with GD&T and tolerance stack-ups - Experience designing for manufacturability and assembly (DFM/DFA) - Ability to build and test prototypes independently - Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail - Comfortable working in a fast-paced, ambiguous startup environment - Familiarity with sheet metal, machining, and rapid prototyping methods (3D printing, CNC, etc.) ### Preferred Qualifications - Experience working on large vehicles, or autonomous vehicles - Basic understanding of electrical systems and sensor integration - Experience with PLM/PDM systems - Familiarity with FEA or other simulation tools - Experience supporting field testing or deployments - Startup or small-team experience
