Job description
The Medical Assistant / Office Assistant provides essential clinical and administrative support across our orthopedic medical practice and integrated wellness clinic. This role operates primarily in the mid-office and clinical support capacity, assisting providers with patient care, clinical documentation, chart preparation, and procedure support, while also contributing to the smooth daily administrative operations of the practice. The ideal candidate is dependable, detail-oriented, compassionate, and comfortable working in a collaborative, multi-specialty clinical environment. Unlike the front-desk Receptionist role, this position focuses less on phone reception and patient check-in/out and more on supporting direct patient care workflows, provider productivity, and internal office operations. GENERAL OFFICE & ADMINISTRATIVE DUTIES Internal Administrative Support EHR & Documentation Support CLINICAL / MID OFFICE DUTIES Patient Intake & Rooming Chart Preparation & Pre-Visit Workflow Clinical Triage Support In-Office Procedure Support Wellness Clinic Clinical Support Medical Scribe QUALIFICATIONS Education & Certification High school diploma or GED required; completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program strongly preferred Certified Medical Assistant (CMA, RMA, or equivalent) preferred Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification required or must be obtained within 30 days of hire Phlebotomy certification or demonstrated venipuncture competency preferred Athena experience required or willingness to complete onboarding training Experience Minimum 1 year of experience in a medical office, clinic, or healthcare setting preferred Experience in an orthopedic, primary care, or multi-specialty practice is a plus Prior exposure to wellness clinic services (IV therapy, BTL devices, weight loss programs, PRP) preferred but not required — training provided Familiarity with medical records management, HIPAA compliance, and basic billing concepts Skills & Competencies Strong attention to detail with accurate and efficient documentation habits Compassionate patient interaction skills and professional demeanor at all times Ability to manage multiple tasks and adapt to shifting priorities in a fast-paced clinical environment Team-oriented; able to collaborate effectively with providers, nurses, and administrative staff Commitment to patient privacy, confidentiality, and HIPAA compliance Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus but not required
