Medior Data Engineer

Does this sound like you? You are an engineer with a pragmatic attitude, who enjoys coding. You feel the weight of responsibility that comes with taking systems into production. You easily switch between scripting and structured programming in typed languages. You understand cloud, provisioning and automation, and you know how to build robust systems. How you will help to create value with Data & AI At Xebia we build strong Data & AI practices to deliver value to our clients and their customers. In the past, our team has predicted daily bread demands of millions of loaves, built advanced energy-saving algorithms at a national scale, and established data innovation labs at large multinational companies! As a data engineer, you are responsible for the implementation of the foundations of data-intensive systems. You develop infrastructure to store, transform, and process data at scale and in the cloud using the technology that you see fit for the job. Moreover, you know how to leverage the latest AI coding tools (like Copilot, Cursor, or Claude) to be more effective without compromising on quality. This dynamic environment offers countless opportunities for personal and professional growth, inspiring you to reach new heights in your career as a data engineer. At Xebia, we work as a team and are always ready to help you solve your problems. When you're working on-site with a client and come across a challenging problem, everybody at Xebia is just a quick message away, ready to assist at any time. Who Are We Looking For? The Data Engineer role is a medior position with a central role in our clients' teams, and therefore we require at least 3 years of relevant professional experience. Having said that, we like to be amazed: so if you have done something outstanding during your studies or previous job, like contributing to open source projects or starting your own company, we encourage you to apply no matter what the level of your experience is. THIS IS YOUR DREAM JOB IF… ✅ If you like working with modern data processing tools, like Databricks, Spark, Airflow, Cloud, and Terraform. ✅ If you like to challenge yourself and become an authority ✅ If you like working for different clients and enjoy the excitement of regularly getting to learn new environments and getting to know new people. ✅ If you deliver quality without comprise, which is one of our core values. THIS IS NOT YOUR DREAM JOB IF… ❌ If you do not like working under (time) pressure to get things done in the best possible way. ❌ If you do not like explaining your work and sharing your knowledge with peers. ❌ If you do not like coding, scripting, and templating. ❌ If you do not live in North Brabant, Limburg, or Gelderland. We strive for authority in everything we do. At most companies, you'll see similar statements, but at Xebia Data, we back this up with concrete benefits: A generous salary, mobility, and tech budget We offer an above average compensation. The monthly mobility budget can be spent on leasing a car, leasing the e-bike of your dreams, or on travelling by train. The tech budget includes taking over your work items for a small contribution after a certain time, and the choice of the laptop and phone is all yours. Development budget This budget includes €5,000 per year and 6 days of dedicated development time – it's your job to spend it on anything that will make you a better data professional. Some of us are going to the AI engineering conference in London this year ( .engineer/europe). Innovation Days Every month we spend a full day on innovation (on company time). You can choose to work on whatever and with whomever. Want to invite a friend from outside? No problem. These days mostly take place in our Amsterdam Oostenburg office, but some will be in Eindhoven as well.
