National Patient Engagement Director – ATTR & Sickle Cell Disease (SCD)

ROLE SUMMARY The Patient Engagement Director – ATTR & SCD reports directly to the US Patient Engagement Lead for ATTR/SCD/AA within the Patient Solutions Team. This Director is accountable for two critical therapeutic areas (TAs) within the Specialty Care Portfolio – Transthyretin Amyloidosis (ATTR), representing the majority (approximately 80%) of the role’s focus, and Sickle Cell Disease (SCD), representing approximately 20% – and leads a national field team of eight community-facing colleagues: seven full-time direct-report Community Navigators (CNs) and one secondment floater CN deployed flexibly across both TAs based on business need. The primary function of this role is to set the national patient engagement strategy across both therapeutic areas and to lead the team that liaises with community-based advocacy and patient groups and their constituents on programs, resources, and services available from Pfizer and/or related to Pfizer Rare Disease and Specialty Care products. T his role requires a high-level, enterprise-minded leader capable of shaping brand strategies for two distinct disease communities, operating with a clear outcomes-delivery mindset, and defining and driving key performance indicators (KPIs) for the team across both TAs. The colleague in this role will be critical in helping Pfizer further establish leadership within both the ATTR and SCD communities, ensuring each patient community receives dedicated, equitable , and appropriately resourced engagement. They will work in close collaboration with Legal and Compliance colleagues to ensure that the team’s capabilities and approaches continue to be implemented in a thoughtful manner that meets Pfizer’s high standards of conduct across both therapeutic areas. ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES Strategic Leadership Across Two Therapeutic Areas Serve as the single national point of accountability for patient engagement strategy, execution, and outcomes across two critical Specialty Care TAs (ATTR and SCD), each with distinct patient populations, advocacy ecosystems, treatment landscapes, and community needs. Develop and own an integrated dual-TA operating model, including prioritization and allocation of people, budget, and programs across ATTR (~80%) and SCD (~20%) in line with brand priorities and evolving market dynamics. Partner directly with two separate brand and marketing leadership teams to shape brand and customer strategies, ensuring patient and community insights from each TA meaningfully inform strategic and tactical brand planning. Define, implement, and govern a unified KPI framework spanning both TAs; establish clear team and individual performance metrics aligned to each brand’s objectives , and report performance and outcomes to senior Patient Solutions and Commercial leadership. Champion health equity considerations in engagement strategy, with particular attention to the needs of underserved communities disproportionately affected within the SCD community and ATTR . Anticipate and lead the team through portfolio evolution and shifting competitive landscapes, reallocating resources and refocusing priorities across TAs as business needs change. Team Leadership & Talent Development (8 CNs) Lead a national field-based team of eight Community Navigators (CNs): seven full-time direct reports plus one secondment floater CN, responsible for education on disease awareness, unbranded and reactive branded approved resources, and living with ATTR and SCD. Direct the strategic deployment of the secondment floater CN across territories and TAs to address coverage gaps, surge needs, and priority initiatives. Own all aspects of people leadership at scale, including hiring, onboarding, coaching, talent development, succession planning, and performance management across a team. Create a high-performing, change-agile team culture through talent planning and career development that delivers results effectively and consistently across two therapeutic areas. Measure, monitor, and report CN performance using metrics aligned to the objectives of both brands. Proactively work with the training team to ensure adequate, TA-specific training programs are available, designed for non-sales field-based colleagues, and expanded to build dual-TA fluency where appropriate . Conduct periodic field ride- alongs in each CN territory across both therapeutic areas. Budget & Operational Management Manage an expanded budget for patient programs and CN operations spanning two TAs; ensure resources are allocated appropriately across all CN territories and between the ATTR and SCD communities in line with latest budget expectations. Manage customer-facing elements and external funding requests in collaboration with sales, marketing, medical, and corporate affairs colleagues for both TAs. Oversee the i mplementation of above -brand CN resources for both the ATTR and SCD communities. Advocacy & Community Engagement Lead the team of CNs responsible for coordinating and implementing patient programs at the local level, delivering a comprehensive overview of patient resources and programs to patients and advocacy groups at various Pfizer-sponsored events across both TAs. Develop and grow strong working partnerships with local advocacy groups to advance the needs of ATTR and SCD patients; upon request, engage in individual patient interactions to enhance understanding of Pfizer resources. Lead the development and implementation of strategic engagements and collaborations with Patient Advocacy Groups (PAGs), patient advocates, Community Partners, and other key external stakeholders across two distinct advocacy ecosystems to drive initiatives that promote awareness of ATTR and SCD and the resources available to support patients. Attend and present at industry conferences and congresses representing Pfizer to both the Rare Disease/ATTR and SCD communities. Cross-Functional & Enterprise Collaboration Work closely with cross-functional partners across two brand teams to ensure team vision remains aligned with broader commercial objectives for the Specialty Care Portfolio. Synthesize the team’s insights across both TAs to inform each brand team’s development of educational materials for patient engagement and patient support services that fill needs within each patient community. Drive collaboration with regional cross-functional partners to ensure integrated patient offerings support intended objectives in the context of regional market dynamics for both TAs. Collaborate with global and local medical affairs teams to deliver advocacy presentations and ensure the patient voice from both communities is incorporated into initiatives. Partner with Planning & Innovation to closely monitor national business trends and community perception in both TAs, and implement processes to accelerate performance, enhance presence, and strengthen patient engagement services. Develop national business objectives and define key performance metrics to be measured aligned to the objectives of both brands. Compliance Leadership Ensure all aspects of patient engagement interactions across both therapeutic areas are implemented in a thoughtful manner that meets Pfizer’s high standards of conduct. Conduct regular meetings with Compliance and Legal to assess customer engagement plans and interactions, accounting for the distinct compliance considerations of each TA and product landscape. BASIC QUALIFICATIONS Candidate demonstrates a breadth of diverse leadership experiences and capabilities including: the ability to influence and collaborate with peers, develop and coach others, oversee and guide the work of other colleagues to achieve meaningful outcomes, and create business impact at a portfolio level.
