Network Deployment Engineer

Job description

**Network Deployment Engineer** **Location**: UK Remote — regular travel to data centre sites required **Department**: Infrastructure — Physical Data Centre Deployments (Network) **Reporting to:** Chief Infrastructure Officer **ABOUT NEXGEN CLOUD** NexGen Cloud is the company behind Hyperstack, a full-stack AI cloud serving tens of thousands of customers from AI researchers to enterprises running the world's most compute-intensive workloads. We deliver on-demand and private GPU infrastructure to teams who treat performance as a requirement, not a feature. We're a tight-knit, fast-moving team working at the cutting edge of AI cloud infrastructure. We practice what we preach, equipping our people with AI at every level so we can solve harder problems, ship faster, and keep raising the bar for what enterprise GPU infrastructure looks like. **THE ROLE: NETWORK DEPLOYMENT ENGINEER** NexGen Cloud's GPU deployment pipeline already has a Senior Deployment Lead covering the general on-site build — racking, cabling, containment, and handover into production. What's missing is the network-specific layer: getting switches deployed and configured, bringing external connectivity into a site through local carriers and fibre operators, and standing up the firewall perimeter. A GPU site can't go live or start billing until that's done. You'll own that network layer directly, working alongside the Senior Deployment Lead rather than duplicating their remit — each of you owning a distinct piece of the same site builds. This is a role for someone who wants to be the named on-site contact for operators and contractors, with no layer above running that relationship on their behalf. **WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING** Rather than a long checklist, here's what success in this role looks like: - Deploy and configure network switches as part of each data-centre build, working hands-on on-site rather than handing off to a separate implementation team - Establish external connectivity for each site by working directly with local network operators and fibre providers to bring circuits live - Run point on carrier and fibre provider relationships end-to-end, rather than consuming connectivity someone else has arranged - Deploy and configure firewalls as the site's network security perimeter, as part of the live build rather than policy authoring alone - Own the on-site relationship for network deployment work — the day-to-day point of contact for operators, fibre providers, and any network-focused contractors - Coordinate with the Senior Deployment Lead and Data Centre Operations so the network layer lands in step with the wider build **ABOUT YOU** We're more interested in how you think and work than in a perfect CV. You'll likely bring a combination of the following: **Essential** - Hands-on data-centre network deployment experience — physically installing and configuring switches on site; design-only network architecture experience is not sufficient on its own - Direct experience establishing carrier or fibre connectivity — you've actually run point with local network operators or ISPs to get a circuit live, not just consumed connectivity someone else arranged - Firewall deployment and configuration experience as part of a live build, not policy authoring alone - Comfortable being the named on-site contact for external operators and contractors, without a layer above running that relationship **Nice to Have** - Background as a network deployment engineer or lead at a neo-cloud or hyperscale data-centre operator - Field engineering experience at an ISP or fibre network operator delivering last-mile or site connectivity - Experience in a colo or enterprise data-centre network operations team handling switch and firewall installs **WHAT WE OFFER** - Competitive salary and annual discretionary bonus scheme - Employee wellbeing benefits - 25 days of holiday, plus public holidays - Remote-first working, with the travel and flexibility this role requires - Real ownership and autonomy — a distinct layer of the build that's genuinely yours - The opportunity to make a visible, meaningful impact as we scale - Clear career progression and growth opportunities in a fast-growing company - A collaborative, international culture built on trust, transparency, and ownership - The chance to help shape NexGen Cloud's team, culture, and future alongside ambitious, mission-driven colleagues **MORE INFORMATION** Head over to our NexGen Cloud careers page to view current openings and follow us on LinkedIn and X to learn more about our journey, newest releases, and exciting news in the neocloud space.
