Personalization Product Lead

**About Faire** Faire is a technology wholesale platform built on the belief that the future is local. Independent retailers around the globe collectively represent a multi-hundred-billion-dollar wholesale market that has historically been fragmented and offline. At Faire, we're using the power of tech, data, and machine learning to connect this thriving community of entrepreneurs across the globe. Picture your favorite boutique in town — we help them discover the best products from around the world to sell in their stores. With the right tools and insights, we believe that we can level the playing field so businesses can grow and local communities can thrive. We’re looking for smart, resourceful and passionate people to join us as we power the shop local movement. If you believe in community, come join ours. **About this role** Personalization is one of the highest-leverage product areas at Faire: the recommendation systems and ranking models that decide what every retailer sees across our home page, brand catalogs, and more. We're looking for a Product Manager to own this space end-to-end — someone who can go deep on the technical tradeoffs behind our recommendation systems, work shoulder-to-shoulder with ML engineers, and turn that into a roadmap that improves experiences for retailers and moves the business. This role starts as full ownership of Personalization, then grows. Once you've built context and made the case for how the scope should split, you'll hire a second Personalization PM and grow into the product lead role for this area. **What you'll do** - Own Personalization's roadmap and strategy end-to-end — the recommendation and ranking systems that power discovery across every surface retailers use. - Build a deep understanding of retailer needs, discovery behaviors, and marketplace dynamics, and use qualitative and quantitative research to surface high-impact opportunities and frame problem statements the team can act on. - Partner directly with ML engineers on model and system tradeoffs and improvements. - Co-create roadmaps with data science, engineering, and other product partners so algo work and engineering work are sequenced together to deliver customer and business impact. - Prioritize across the many collaboration and impact opportunities other teams bring to Personalization. - Be directly accountable for ambitious goals that get visibility at the highest levels of the company. - Build credibility with senior leadership as an expert on Faire's business and how the algorithms behind it impact our customers and business. - Serve as a go-to product leader for ambiguous, high-stakes problems in Discovery algorithms space. - Raise the bar on how our product and data science teams work together, especially as AI reshapes how that partnership operates day to day. - Build the case for how Personalization's scope should split, then help hire and onboard a second PM to share it. **Qualifications** - 8+ years of product management experience, including senior IC or Staff-level ownership of a technical product area. - Direct experience shipping recommendation, ranking, or personalization systems. - Strong business judgment, with a track record of making tough prioritization calls across multiple stakeholder teams in order to delivery on ambitious goals. - Experience splitting execution responsibility with partner teams on shared goals — defining who owns what and aligning roadmaps. - Prior people-management experience is a plus, but not required. **Salary Range** San Francisco, CA, US: The pay range for this role is $220,000 - $302,500 USD per year. This role will also be eligible for equity and benefits. Actual base pay will be determined based on permissible factors, including transferable skills, work experience, market demand, and primary work location. The base pay range provided is subject to change and may be modified in the future. **Hybrid Faire employees currently go into the office 3 days per week on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and a third flex day of their choosing (Monday, Wednesday, or Friday).* Additionally, hybrid in-office roles will have the flexibility to work remotely up to 4 weeks per year. Specific Workplace and Information Technology positions may require onsite attendance 5 days per week as will be indicated in the job posting.* **Why you’ll love working at Faire** - **Move fast:** You'll own meaningful problems that serve customers around the globe with the agency to move fast and see your results clearly. - **Equipped to scale:** We invest in what matters, including the latest enterprise AI tools, to help you work smarter and get more out of every day. - **Best in class:** Our team is full of sharp, kind, and generous colleagues who care about their craft and about helping you grow in yours. - **Real rewards.** Competitive pay, equity, and comprehensive benefits designed to support your life inside and outside of work. - **Belonging:** We're intentional about building an environment where every Faire employee has equal access to opportunities, growth, and success.
