**Company:** [Greenland Investment Management](https://www.greenlandim.com/?utm_source=chatgpt.com) **Location:** Flexible / Global Markets Focus **Department:** Commodities Trading & Investments **Experience Required:** Minimum 3 Years **Employment Type:** Full-Time Position Overview Greenland Investment Management is seeking an experienced **Physical Precious Arbitrage Trader** to identify, execute, and manage profitable arbitrage opportunities across global precious metals markets. The role requires deep expertise in physical gold and silver trading, cross-border market dynamics, pricing inefficiencies, logistics, financing structures, and risk management. The successful candidate will be responsible for generating consistent P&L through physical precious metals arbitrage strategies involving geographical price differentials, import/export opportunities, refinery relationships, vaulting networks, exchange-deliverable products, and physical-to-paper market dislocations. This is a front-office revenue-generating role with direct responsibility for originating, evaluating, and executing arbitrage trades across global precious metals markets. Key Responsibilities- Arbitrage Strategy Development - Identify and execute physical gold and silver arbitrage opportunities across international markets. - Monitor regional premiums and discounts across major trading hubs, including: - Dubai - Mumbai - Singapore - Hong Kong - Zurich - London - Shanghai - Develop and maintain arbitrage models covering: - Geographic spreads - Import/export economics - Refining margins - Freight and logistics costs - Financing and inventory carry costs - Tax and duty structures - Physical versus futures market opportunities Physical Precious Metals Trading - Execute spot, forward, and structured physical gold and silver transactions. - Build and maintain relationships with: - Refineries - Bullion banks - Dealers - Vault operators - Logistics providers - Institutional counterparties - Source and place physical inventory efficiently across multiple jurisdictions. Market Intelligence & Research - Track global precious metals supply and demand flows. - Analyze: - Central bank activity - Refinery output - Import/export data - Regional premiums - Inventory levels - Exchange warehouse stocks - Identify emerging arbitrage opportunities arising from regulatory, logistical, or market dislocations. Risk Management - Manage price, currency, liquidity, settlement, logistics, and counterparty risks. - Utilize futures and OTC derivatives for hedging physical exposure. - Monitor Value-at-Risk (VaR), position limits, and inventory exposure. - Ensure all trades comply with company risk parameters. Trade Execution & Operations - Coordinate closely with operations, compliance, finance, and logistics teams. - Oversee trade lifecycle from execution through settlement and delivery. - Ensure accurate trade capture, reconciliation, and reporting. - Manage physical delivery schedules and inventory movements. P&L Ownership - Generate sustainable risk-adjusted returns through arbitrage activities. - Maintain detailed records of opportunities, execution performance, and profitability. - Present regular performance updates to senior management. Required Qualifications Experience - Minimum 3 years of experience in: - Physical gold trading - Physical silver trading - Precious metals arbitrage - Bullion trading - Commodities trading - Demonstrated track record of generating profitable arbitrage P&L. Technical Knowledge Strong understanding of: - Physical precious metals markets. - Global bullion supply chains. - Precious metals financing and inventory management. - Import/export procedures. - International logistics and shipping. - Futures and OTC hedging instruments. - Market structure across major precious metals hubs. Market Knowledge Experience trading or analyzing: - London Bullion Market - London Bullion Market Association - Shanghai Gold Exchange - Dubai Multi Commodities Centre - COMEX - Multi Commodity Exchange of India Analytical Skills - Advanced spreadsheet and financial modeling skills. - Ability to calculate arbitrage profitability incorporating: - Premiums/discounts - FX exposure - Duties and taxes - Financing costs - Freight and insurance - Strong quantitative and analytical mindset. Communication Skills - Excellent verbal and written communication. - Ability to negotiate with international counterparties. - Strong stakeholder management capabilities. Preferred Qualifications - Experience working with bullion banks, refineries, trading houses, hedge funds, commodity merchants, or family offices. - Established network within the global precious metals ecosystem. - Knowledge of structured trade finance. - Familiarity with customs regulations and international trade compliance. - Understanding of vaulting and custody arrangements. - Experience trading across Asia, Middle East, Europe, and North America.
