Job Title: Physician - Internal Medicine Dept, Palliative Care, Psychologist (Open Rank/Track Faculty) Department: The Ohio State University College of Medicine and the Wexner Medical Center are excited to announce opportunities for Palliative Medicine Physicians to join our expanding team within the Division of Palliative Medicine in the Department of Internal Medicine . Academic rank and track are commensurate with academic record and experience. Position Overview The position involves implementation of a combined mHealth-telehealth symptom intervention for people with advanced cancer as well as brief telehealth intervention for people with pancreatic cancer. Other behavioral symptom management projects are also available so previous training in chronic pain, sleep medicine, and evidence-based wellness and psychological interventions (CBT-ACT) is preferable. The Psychologist will assist with basic statistical analyses as well as manuscript and grant development and will supervise and mentor junior research staff on multiple studies. Duties and Responsibilities Faculty responsibilities are consistent with our tripartite mission – patient care, education, and clinical research. The psychologist will provide professional telehealth support for mHealth and web-based interventions for people with cancer. They may also provide clinical intervention for other studies as part of the Center for Research Excellence in Supportive Care. They will perform statistical analyses and will have ample opportunities to contribute to training, research, and other scholarly pursuits. The position requires broad knowledge of the field of psychosocial oncology, DSM-5 diagnosis, psychosocial palliative medicine interventions, as well as basic research methods and statistics. Other duties include but are not limited to representing the program or Department by participating in conferences and representing OSU at professional meetings and community speaking engagements. The psychologist is expected to practice within the established Medical Center and standards of practice (policies, procedures, protocols) and adhere to key results areas of the Medical Center. Division Overview Our mission : Provide interdisciplinary expert care to patients and their families/caregivers who are navigating serious illness. Our vision: Lead the way for person-centered care with each patient through clinical, educational, and research innovation. The Palliative Medicine team cares for seriously ill patients throughout their illness trajectory. Our areas of expertise include palliative care in cancer, heart failure, advanced lung disease, transplant, intensive care, neurologic conditions, geriatrics, and advanced liver disease. We educate trainees and practicing clinicians on primary palliative care principles from multiple disciplines and subspecialities. Our program has five ACGME-accredited Hospice and Palliative Medicine fellowship positions including Adult, combined Adult/Pediatric, and combined Oncology/Palliative Medicine track. Our research initiatives center on palliative care delivery, symptom management, and implementation science in the areas of cancer, organ transplant, and substance use disorder. Supported through both internal and extramural funding, our research endeavors include topics such as models of palliative care delivery, cancer symptom management in substance use disorder, digital health interventions for symptom monitoring and management, and cognitive assessment for older adults with cancer. Requirements Successful completion of an APA-accredited doctoral program in clinical or counseling psychology and an APA-accredited internship Post-doctoral fellowship training in a healthcare or medical setting is preferred Knowledge of actigraphy and/or psychoneuroimmunology is preferred Licensure in the state of Ohio Previous work in an academic medical center Faculty rank will be in accordance with candidate’s qualifications How to Apply To be considered, application materials must include cover letter and Curriculum Vita. Research Faculty (regardless of rank) - Persons with the titles of research assistant professor, research associate professor, or research professor. These faculty will have earned a doctorate (PhD) or other terminal degree in the relevant field of study. Research faculty members are not eligible for tenure and are appointed for terms of one to five years. Their principal career focus is research.
