At Catawiki, every day brings the extraordinary! Whether it’s [Daniel Ricciardo’s Formula 1 Car](https://www.catawiki.com/en/c/583-sports-memorabilia), a [Woolly Mammoth’s Skeleton](https://www.catawiki.com/en/c/579-fossils), [Lady Gaga's Jumpsuit](https://www.catawiki.com/en/l/10035805) or [Usain Bolt’s running shoe](https://www.catawiki.com/en/c/583-sports-memorabilia), we encounter exceptional objects every day. We’re a one-of-a-kind marketplace for buying and selling special objects. Each week, more than 100,000 unique items are auctioned, all carefully curated by our passionate in-house experts. Having sold over 25 million unique objects, our mission is to become the world’s most popular destination for special objects. As a growing, diverse and sustainable scale-up, we proudly live by three core values. If these values resonate with you, we’d love to explore how you can join us. - Taking ownership and driving impact - Being open to change and feedback - Being passionate about our mission and our customers. ### **Your Mission** At Catawiki, our Platform Horizontal has evolved from solely managing the cloud into a broad function supporting Reliability, Developer Experience, Security, and Quality. We take a holistic approach to creating systems and tools that help developers deliver applications seamlessly and reliably without getting bogged down in infrastructure complexity. As a *Platform Engineer*, you’ll work at the intersection of development, infrastructure, and operations. You’ll help shape and execute our long-term platform vision, empowering Catawiki teams to deliver value to customers with speed, reliability, and security. ### **What You'll Do** You’ll build and improve the platform capabilities that enable our engineering teams to develop, deploy, and operate applications effectively at scale. - **Build a self-service developer platform** with a particular emphasis on developer experience, designing and maintaining platforms that abstract complexity and give teams the tools to deploy, monitor, and optimise their applications. - **Orchestrate cloud-native infrastructure**, manage Kubernetes clusters and other cloud resources, focusing on performance, scalability, and cost efficiency through FinOps practices. - **Boost developer productivity** by building and enhancing CI/CD pipelines, GitOps workflows, and reusable templates that accelerate development and deployment cycles. - **Drive reliability and scalability** through applying practices for fault tolerance, disaster recovery, and scaling so applications run smoothly under changing conditions. - **Improve platform operations** usage and enhance our observability stack to monitor platform health and resolve incidents proactively. - **Collaborate and innovate** by partnering with product teams to understand their needs, build simple and impactful solutions, and champion cloud-native best practices across Catawiki. ### **What You'll Bring** You measure what matters, introduce changes gradually, and treat failure as a normal part of learning. You use tooling and automation wherever possible to reduce toil, and enjoy sharing knowledge with others. - Cloud-native expertise: At least 5 years of production experience with Kubernetes, container orchestration, and cloud platforms such as GCP, AWS, or Azure. - Automation mindset: Experience automating workflows and CI/CD pipelines and working with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform or Ansible. - Observability experience: Hands-on experience using and maintaining tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, or OpenTelemetry to improve reliability and performance. - Strong ownership: You proactively address platform issues and work toward long-term scalability and resilience. - Collaborative approach: You work effectively with developers and cross-functional teams to align goals and deliver impactful yet simple solutions. - Continuous learning: You keep developing your knowledge of cloud-native tools, technologies, and practices in a fast-moving ecosystem. ### **How We Work** The Platform Horizontal supports engineering teams across Catawiki by reducing infrastructure complexity and providing reliable, secure, and scalable foundations. - We collaborate closely with product teams to understand their challenges and improve their development experience. - We favour self-service capabilities, reusable solutions, automation, and measurable, gradual improvements. - We share knowledge and treat reliability, security, quality, and developer experience as shared responsibilities. ### **Where You'll Be** This is a *Hybrid* role based in Amsterdam. **You will work from our** **Amsterdam HQ** **a minimum of 2 days per week.** ### **In Return** You’ll be part of an enthusiastic, highly motivated team of **800+ Catawikians.** - A competitive Annual Gross Base Salary depending on your level, competencies, and overall experience. - A Work From Home Allowance to help with your monthly household bills. - Commuting between your home and our office is covered by Catawiki. - Amazing Office right in the centre of Amsterdam. ### **Why You'll Love Working with Us** - **Create a visible impact** by working at scale in a global organisation serving millions of customers across 80+ categories.
