Position Overview The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) provides essential patient care and support under the direction of nursing staff. This role is vital in promoting patient comfort, safety, and overall well-being within the Medical/Surgical unit. Position Details Employment Type: PRN (as needed) Shift: 12-hour Day Shift (7:00 AM – 7:00 PM) Department: Medical/Surgical Unit Schedule: Days vary based on patient care needs Travel: None required Supervisory Responsibilities: None Compensation: Commensurate with experience Why Join Ashe Memorial Hospital Flexible PRN schedule to support work-life balance 12-hour shifts for fewer workdays Supportive, team-oriented work environment Opportunity to make a meaningful impact in a close-knit community Pathways for growth and advancement in healthcare Key Responsibilities Assist patients with activities of daily living, including mobility, hygiene, and comfort Obtain and record vital signs, reporting changes to the nursing team Support patient safety and maintain a clean, organized care environment Communicate effectively with nurses and interdisciplinary care teams Provide compassionate, respectful care to patients and families Assist with patient transport and basic care needs as appropriate Minimum Qualifications Certification: Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification in North Carolina Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification – required Experience: Previous patient care experience preferred, but not required Core Competencies Compassionate, patient-centered approach to care Strong communication and teamwork skills Dependability and attention to detail Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment Professionalism and accountability Employment Requirements Compliance with all hospital policies, including vaccination requirements (approved exemptions considered) Successful completion of a criminal background check and pre-employment drug screening (post-offer) Benefits PRN employees are eligible for select benefits in accordance with hospital policy.
