JOB SUMMARY Design, validate, and launch new products. Accurately define functional requirements for new products. Design, test, and integrate components, finalize designs, and evaluate overall effectiveness, cost, reliability, and safety. Design, develop, execute, and evaluate conformity tests, product specifications, and process validation plans. Create and review component specifications and bills of materials (BOM). Collaborate with internal manufacturing partners, external contract manufacturers, designers, and product specialists to optimize designs for manufacturability. Use CAD and CAE systems to model new designs and create detailed engineering drawings. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES Provide product design engineering support for assigned products and parts. Collaborate with senior product design team members to understand the purpose and requirements of product/part designs. Develop and design assembly/system concepts based on defined objectives and requirements. Perform detailed design using CAD modeling techniques. Create models and parts quickly and accurately. Quickly implement model modifications. Apply GD&T knowledge to understand tolerance zones and perform more advanced/nonlinear tolerance stack-ups. Validate options in virtual space, evaluating proposals from others as well. Work on both primary and secondary processes, assessing the impact of design on jig complexity and cost. Adjust cost requirements for assigned projects.
