Job description
About the role We’re hiring a Product Development & Sourcing Manager to join our Hong Kong team. This is a physical consumer goods role, not a software or digital product role. You’ll work inside a fast-moving, merit-driven environment obsessed with quality, identifying high-potential product opportunities across a portfolio of brands and bringing exceptional consumer goods to life — from idea to factory floor to market launch. You’ll operate across multiple categories, collaborating closely with designers, engineers, and manufacturers who share a deep appreciation for precision and craft. About the team Turtles is a world-class team letting anyone turn their passion into a beloved marketplace, helping 30M+ shoppers find the things they’ll love. We’re one of the fastest-growing startups in the US and we’re hiring brilliant and exceptionally-driven people to join us. We have a lean, 60 person team where every person owns outcomes end-to-end, learns and grows incredibly quickly, and works with teammates who set high standards. Our culture is focused around rapid experimentation, lean autonomous teams, and minimal bureaucracy. Turtles isn’t for everyone, and that’s intentional. If you’re energized by hard problems and big opportunities, you’ll thrive here. Our team is primarily split between our offices in NYC, Helsinki, and Hong Kong, with portions of our team also working remotely. We prefer in-person hires and indicate our preferred locations for each role, but please apply regardless of your location as we’re always looking for brilliant people to join. We’re excited to meet you. Why this role matters Our sourcing team operates at the intersection of data, craft, and brand. We use marketplace signals to predict the next iconic physical products, then work with partnered brands and factories to turn the best ideas into category-defining products. Supply chains are notoriously slow and complex; the right person here finds ways to cut through that complexity so we can move quickly without sacrificing quality. What you’ll do: Use marketplace and trend data to identify high-potential product opportunities across multiple categories and brands. Translate insights into clear, commercially grounded product briefs with a high bar for materials, durability, and design integrity. Guide design and development, ensuring every decision balances beauty, functionality, and manufacturability. Source and evaluate manufacturers with a focus on technical capability, consistency, and craftsmanship. Manage sampling, testing, and quality control from first prototype to final production, maintaining speed without sacrificing standards. Negotiate pricing, terms, and timelines to ensure efficient and reliable production. Ensure full compliance with applicable regulations, including US trade requirements. Partner with creative teams (photography, video, etc.) to bring each product to market with clarity and precision. Collaborate daily with a broad network of entrepreneurs, factory partners, designers, QC specialists, logistics operators, and regulatory advisors to keep products moving smoothly from concept to launch. What we’re looking for Strong taste in branding, aesthetics, and physical product design. Extremely intelligent, adaptable, and solutions-oriented. Excellent organizational discipline. Fluent in English. How we hire A short, focused process designed to respect your time. The specifics vary by role, but here’s the format we typically aim for: Initial set of interviews with the team. Short, fully-paid take-home project. Onsite interview at our Hong Kong office to meet the team.
