Product Lead [Marketing Products Team]

Job description

# **Hi there!** We're [**Sweed**](https://sweedpos.com/#/), a product-driven startup building an all-in-one **cannabis retail platform**. We're looking for a **Product Lead** to join our team remotely and help us scale and optimize our platform. # **About Us** **At Sweed**, we’re reimagining how cannabis retailers operate. Our **enterprise-grade platform** combines **POS, eCommerce, Marketing, Analytics and Inventory Management** into a single, seamless solution—eliminating the need for multiple third-party tools. We believe in **simplicity, efficiency, and innovation**. That’s why we build for **scalability and performance**, making life easier for cannabis retailers while driving real business growth. # **Why We’re Doing This** At **Sweed,** we believe in the **medicinal potential of cannabis.** It has been shown to help with chronic pain, anxiety, depression, and many other conditions. Despite the lingering stigma, we see **cannabis as a powerful tool for improving lives.** The **industry is evolving rapidly,** and we’re here to drive that transformation—making cannabis retail more **efficient, accessible, and customer-friendly.** # **Where We Are Now** We’ve been on the market for **7 years,** continuously growing and refining our product. Our focus is on **earning customer trust**, which means constantly **improving our delivery processes** and **rolling out new features**. At the same time, we navigate the **complex legal landscape** of the cannabis industry, ensuring our platform remains compliant and future-proof. # **Team Structure** Our **total team size is over 200 people**: **The development team is distributed globally** and organized into **cross-functional product teams.** These teams typically consist of 8–12 members, including front-end and back-end developers, QA specialists, and analysts. Each team is led by a Team Lead and a Product Owner, ensuring effective collaboration and clear direction. Meanwhile, our **CEO, account managers, and customer success team are based in the USA**, working closely with us to align product development with business and user needs. # **Why We’re Hiring** We’re strengthening our product leadership and looking for a **Product Lead** to help shape the next stage of our **Marketing products direction.** This is a hands-on product leadership role. You won’t be stepping away from product work into pure people management — you’ll stay close to customers, problems, product decisions, and execution while helping the broader team develop stronger product practices. Our Marketing direction brings together a broad suite of tools that help retailers engage, retain, and grow their customer base — from advanced segmentation and automated campaigns to loyalty, referrals, promotions, discounts, and customer feedback. We’re looking for someone who can zoom out and define where the product should go, zoom in when details matter, and turn that direction into tangible results. ## **What You’ll Be Working On** - Shape the product vision and direction for the Marketing area and translate it into clear priorities and actionable plans. - Own complex product initiatives end-to-end — from discovery and validation through delivery, launch, and evaluation. - Work directly with customers and stakeholders to uncover underlying business problems and identify the right opportunities to solve. - Connect individual initiatives into a coherent product direction and balance short-term needs with long-term scalability. - Lead prioritization and make trade-offs across customer needs, commercial priorities, technical constraints, speed, and product quality. - Work closely with Product Owners, mentor them, and strengthen product thinking and practices across the direction. - Partner with Engineering, Design, Sales, Customer Success, Analytics, and leadership throughout discovery and execution. - Keep stakeholders aligned through clear decisions, transparent communication, and proactive expectation management. - Evaluate product outcomes after launch and use customer feedback, product data, and business results to determine what should happen next. ## **What We’re Looking For** - Strong experience as a Product Manager, Product Owner, Product Lead, or in a comparable product role; around 5+ years is a useful benchmark. - At least 2 years of people management experience, ideally leading Product Managers, Product Owners, or other product professionals. - Experience building B2B SaaS or another complex B2B technology product. - Strong hands-on product background with proven end-to-end ownership of meaningful product areas or complex initiatives. - Experience working directly with external customers and turning business problems into scalable product solutions. - Ability to define product direction rather than simply execute an existing roadmap. - Strong structured and logical thinking, with the ability to navigate ambiguity and make sound product decisions with incomplete information. - Ability to combine strategic thinking with strong execution and stay close to both the big picture and important product details. - Strong leadership and mentoring skills, with the ability to raise the quality of product thinking and execution around you. - Entrepreneurial mindset, high ownership, clear communication, and English at B2+ level or higher for working with international and US-based stakeholders. ## **What Ownership Means to Us** We’re looking for someone who: - thinks beyond an individual feature or request and asks what product we should ultimately be building; - brings structure to ambiguous situations and helps others understand what matters most; - combines strong product fundamentals with practical judgment rather than following frameworks mechanically; - can create a vision but is equally comfortable turning it into execution; - challenges assumptions and stakeholder requests constructively when there is a better way to solve the underlying problem; - knows when to go deeper into details and when to step back and look at the broader direction; - helps other Product Owners become stronger rather than simply making decisions for them; - can make decisions with incomplete information and adjust quickly when new information appears; - follows initiatives through to measurable outcomes rather than stopping at strategy, discovery, or planning; - communicates risks and trade-offs early and transparently; - takes responsibility for the product and business outcome, not only their part of the process; - can openly discuss unsuccessful decisions, learn from them, and change direction when necessary. ## **Nice to Have** - Experience building Marketing Technology, CRM, loyalty, promotions, customer engagement, or similar products. - Experience with eCommerce, retail technology, FinTech, payments, ERP, or other complex B2B product ecosystems. - Experience working in both a mature product environment and a startup or high-growth company. - Experience launching a new product, business, or major product direction from an early stage. - Experience working directly with US customers. - Practical experience using AI tools for research, analysis, prototyping, or other parts of the product workflow. ## **What Else Matters?** - **Product thinking** — You start with the problem, customer context, and expected outcome rather than immediately jumping to features. - **Execution focus** — You can define a direction and then work closely with the team to turn it into a real product. - **Entrepreneurial mindset** — You identify opportunities, propose solutions, and find a way forward without relying on a rigid process. - **Structured thinking** — You can organize incomplete and conflicting information, identify missing context, and explain your reasoning clearly. - **Adaptability** — You can adjust your approach when priorities, customer needs, or market conditions change. - **Communication** — You make progress, decisions, risks, and dependencies visible to the people around you. - **Business judgment** — You understand that a B2B product needs to balance long-term strategy with customer and commercial realities. - **Accountability** — You are comfortable making decisions and taking responsibility for the result. ## **Why Join Sweed?** - **Real product influence** — You will have the opportunity to shape product direction, not only manage an existing backlog. - **Space for initiative** — If you identify an important opportunity, demonstrate its business value, and are ready to own it, you can turn it into a real product investment. - **Ambitious scale** — We’re preparing the platform for further growth, new markets, and new industries. - **Direct customer impact** — Your decisions can influence retailers’ revenue, operational efficiency, and customer experience. - **Meaningful ownership** — Strong Product Owners can expand their scope and take responsibility for larger product areas based on their impact. - **Complex product challenges** — You’ll work with a connected platform that combines multiple retail products and business processes. - **International environment** — You’ll collaborate with a globally distributed team and US-based customers and stakeholders. # **What We Offer** - **Salary in USD** (B2B contract with the US company) - **100% remote** – We’re a remote-first company, no offices needed! - **Flexible working hours** – Core team time: 10:00-16:00 CET (flexible per team) - **20 paid vacation** days per year - **12 holidays** per year - **3 sick leave** days - **Medical insurance** after probation - **Equipment** reimbursement (laptops, monitors, etc.) # **Hiring Process** - Recruiter Call — approximately 45 minutes - Product Competency Interview — 60 minutes - Interview with VP of Product — 60 minutes - Interview with Head of Product — 60 minutes - Interview with CEO — up to 45 minutes
