Product Management Intern

Job description

**About Sezzle:** With a mission to financially empower the next generation, Sezzle is revolutionizing the shopping experience beyond payments, blending cutting-edge tech with a wide range of flexible payment options designed to give customers more choice, accessibility, and a smarter overall experience. We're not just transforming payments; we're redefining how people discover, interact with, and purchase the things they love while driving real impact on merchant sales through increased conversions and higher order values. As we continue to shape the future of fintech and retail, we're building an innovative, dynamic team passionate about creating more than just a transaction but a truly unique shopping journey. If you're excited about pushing boundaries in tech and delivering a game-changing experience for consumers and merchants alike, come join us at Sezzle and help create the future of shopping! **About the Role:** We are seeking a curious, driven, and thoughtful Product Intern to join our Payments & Fees team. This role presents an exciting opportunity to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment within a growing team, with abundant prospects for career advancement. If you want to truly understand how fintech works, there's no better place to start than payments — and no better seat than product. The Payments & Fees team sits at the intersection of technology, data, and business, working with payment processors, payment method providers, and cross-functional partners across the company. As a product intern here, you won't be watching from the sidelines. You'll be in the room (or the channel) where decisions get made, picking up context fast and contributing to a team that moves quickly and takes its craft seriously. You'll support the product manager across a high-throughput environment: helping keep the backlog organized, digging into data to understand payment flows, and working alongside an efficient and technically sharp engineering team, as well as Design and Data teams. Product management is one of those rare roles where no two days look the same — you're constantly context-switching between technical conversations, business problems, and user needs, and that's exactly what makes it exciting. **What You'll Do:** **Ticket Management & Product Support** - Assist the product manager in drafting, organizing, and tracking tickets for changes and improvements to the payments service. Help ensure work is well-documented, properly prioritized, and moving through the backlog. Follow up on status and surface blockers when needed. **Context Gathering & Stakeholder Support** - Help the product manager stay on top of inputs from multiple stakeholders by gathering background context, summarizing key information, and preparing materials ahead of provider meetings. Respond to routine internal questions by pulling the right information from available resources. **Payment Workflow Analysis** - Learn and apply SQL to query payment data and support the creation and maintenance of dashboards that track payment performance, processing failures, and operational health. Help flag anomalies in payment flows and assist in assembling data for reviews and investigations. **Documentation & Process Tracking** - Maintain clear internal documentation for payment flows, fee structures, and operational processes. Help keep cross-functional teams aligned with concise, well-structured written updates. **Agile Meetings** - Participate in agile meetings and collaborate with engineering, operations, compliance, and support teams. One of the most valuable things a product manager does is serve as a bridge between tech and the business — translating technical challenges into clear language and business needs into actionable requirements. You'll get hands-on experience doing exactly that. **What We Look For:** - Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Business, Computer Science, Economics, Finance, or a related field - A genuine interest in payments, fintech, and how complex financial systems work under the hood - Natural curiosity and a logical mindset — you enjoy working through problems, aren't afraid to ask questions, and get satisfaction from figuring things out - Strong attention to detail — you notice when something's off and follow through until it's resolved - Comfort working with data and a willingness to learn SQL; prior experience is a plus but not required - Effective written and verbal communication — you can summarize a complex topic clearly and ask the right questions to fill in gaps - Prior experience in internships, projects, or extracurriculars related to product, fintech, data analysis, or startups is a plus — but we hire for potential, not just pedigree. - Demonstrated experience working with Claude or equivalent large language model tools is required; candidates must be comfortable leveraging AI to enhance productivity, research, and communication. **About You:** - You have relentlessly high standards — many people may think your standards are unreasonably high. You are continually raising the bar and driving those around you to deliver great results. You make sure that defects do not get sent down the line and that problems are fixed so they stay fixed. - You're not bound by convention — your success and much of the fun lies in developing new ways to do things. - You need action — speed matters in business. Many decisions and actions are reversible and do not need extensive study. We value calculated risk-taking. - You earn trust — you listen attentively, speak candidly, and treat others respectfully. - You have backbone; disagree, then commit — you can respectfully challenge decisions when you disagree, even when doing so is uncomfortable or exhausting. You have conviction and are tenacious. You do not compromise for the sake of social cohesion. Once a decision is determined, you commit wholly. - You deliver results — you focus on the key inputs and deliver them with the right quality and in a timely fashion. Despite setbacks, you rise to the occasion and never settle. **What Makes Working at Sezzle Awesome:** At Sezzle, we are more than just brilliant engineers, passionate data enthusiasts, out-of-the-box thinkers, and determined innovators. We believe in surrounding ourselves with only the best and the brightest individuals. Our culture is not defined by a certain set of perks designed to give the illusion of the traditional startup culture, but rather, it is the visible example living in every employee that we hire. **Compensation**: The salary for the Product Intern is $800 USD Gross as an independent contractor. #Li-remote #Full-time
