Product Marketing Manager

**What We’re Building** Honeycomb is a service for the near and present future, defining observability and raising expectations of what developer tools can do! We’re working with well known companies like HelloFresh, Slack, LaunchDarkly, and Vanguard and more across a range of industries. This is an exciting time in our trajectory, we’ve closed Series D funding, scaled past the 200-person mark, and were named to Forbes’ America’s Best Startups of 2022 and 2023! If you want to see what we’ve been up to, please check out these [blog posts](https://www.honeycomb.io/blog) and [press releases](https://www.honeycomb.io/category/press-releases). **Who We Are** We come for the impact, and stay for the culture! We’re a talented, opinionated, passionate, fiercely inclusive, and responsible group of bees. We have conviction and we strive to live [our values](https://www.honeycomb.io/about/) every day. We want our people to do what they truly love amongst a team of highly talented (but humble) peers. **How We Work** We are a fully distributed company, which means we believe it is not where you sit, but how you deliver that matters most. We invest in our people and care about how you orient to our culture and processes. At the same time we imbue a lot of trust, autonomy, and accountability from Day 1. #LI-Remote **Little more about the team:** Product marketing at Honeycomb is a small team with a wide surface area. We decide how Honeycomb is positioned, what we say at launch, what the sales team brings into a deal, and how an engineer who has never heard of us understands the product in the first two minutes. Because the team is small, the work is broad: in one week you might rewrite a product page, build a competitive one-pager, interview a customer, and run the launch checklist for a new feature. This role is built for someone early in a product marketing career who wants to systematically improve the customer buying journey. As a product and messaging expert, you will partner with go-to-market teams to drive business impact through sales and marketing campaigns. You will get real ownership of real launches, and you will have senior product marketers, a technical field team, and engineers who like explaining their work close at hand. Our audience is engineers and platform teams, so the bar is accuracy first: we would rather be precise and useful than clever. **What you’ll do in the role:** You will support and execute product marketing across Honeycomb's core products, with a generalist mix of messaging, launches, content, enablement, and competitive work. Expect to start by contributing to pieces of each and to own more of them over your first year. ### **Responsibilities** - **Messaging and positioning:** Write and maintain messaging for features and product areas, from the one-sentence version an engineer reads on a web page to the slide a sales engineer uses in a technical conversation. Keep it accurate and grounded in what the product actually does. - **Launches:** Run launch execution for small and mid-sized releases and support the larger ones. Build the plan, write the assets, coordinate Product, Marketing, Sales Engineering, and Customer Success, and report on how the launch performed. - **Content:** Produce the practical material that helps people evaluate and adopt Honeycomb: blog posts, solution briefs, web copy, demo scripts, FAQs, and customer-facing one-pagers. - **Sales enablement:** Equip the field with what they need to run a good conversation, including pitch narratives, objection handling, battlecards, and release updates. Join customer calls, listen to recorded ones, and fix the material that isn't landing. - **Competitive and market intelligence:** Track the observability market and competitor moves. Maintain competitive assets and keep them current and honest, so the field trusts them. - **Voice of customer and proof points:** Talk to customers and prospects, turn what you hear into case studies, quotes, and proof points, and bring the patterns back to Product and Marketing. - **Measurement:** Help define what success looks like for your work, pull the data, and share what you learn, including the things that didn't work. **What you’ll bring to the role:** - 2 to 5 years of experience in product marketing, or in a closely adjacent go-to-market role such as content marketing, sales engineering, technical writing, developer relations, or product management, with at least some of it in B2B SaaS. - Strong writing. You can take a dense technical explanation and turn it into something short, accurate, and useful, and you can tell the difference between the two yourself. - Curiosity about technical products and the patience to learn how they work. You ask engineers questions until you actually understand the answer, and you are comfortable in a product that assumes a technical user. - Passion about the team winning: Sales, marketing, and product teams will depend on you to succeed. Their success is your success, but you’re not simply an order taker: you look for the smart solutions and don’t wait to be asked. - The ability to run a project across teams without formal authority: setting a timeline, chasing the open items, and telling people clearly when something has slipped. - Comfort with ambiguity and a bias toward shipping. Our priorities move, the team is small, and the best work here comes from people who start rather than wait for a brief. - Willingness to use data to decide and to evaluate your own work honestly. - Demonstrated experience applying AI tooling in your work. ### **Nice to have** - Exposure to observability, developer tools, distributed tracing, OpenTelemetry, platform engineering, or reliability and SLO practices. We will teach this, but a head start helps. - Experience marketing to engineers as the primary audience. - Hands-on familiarity with AI and LLM tooling, including coding agents and MCP-based workflows. - Experience with webinars, conference talks, or community programs. - Experience working in a fully distributed company. Base Salary based on level of experience $125,000—$190,000 USD **What you'll get when you join the Hive:** - A stake in our success - generous equity with employee-friendly stock program - It’s not about how strong of a negotiator you are - our pay is based on transparent levels relative to experience - Time to recharge with unlimited PTO - A distributed-first mindset and culture (really!) - Home office, co-working, and internet stipend - Full benefits coverage for employees, with additional coverage available for dependents - Up to 16 weeks of paid parental leave, regardless of path to parenthood - Annual development allowance - And much more... **Please note we cannot currently sponsor or support visa transfers at this time.** Additionally, in compliance with applicable law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work. **Phishing and Recruitment Scam Warning:** We take your security seriously.
