Job description
Lead impactful water resources projects where your work supports resilient infrastructure and sustainable stormwater solutions across the Southeast. At Thomas & Hutton, you’ll take ownership of complex projects, guide a growing team, and collaborate with multidisciplinary professionals to deliver high-quality solutions for public and private sector clients. If you’re an experienced engineer ready to lead, mentor, and expand a water resources practice, this role is for you. ### What you'll do • Lead and manage water resources projects including stormwater master planning, drainage design, and hydrologic and hydraulic modeling • Oversee the development of watershed studies, capital improvement projects, and stormwater management solutions • Perform and manage hydrologic and hydraulic analyses (1D/2D modeling) and drainage design • Design and oversee stormwater management systems, erosion and sediment control plans, and NPDES permitting efforts • Develop and review contract documents including plans, specifications, and cost estimates • Coordinate with clients, contractors, consultants, regulatory agencies, and multidisciplinary teams • Manage project scope, schedules, and budgets, including proposal development and fee negotiations • Perform and oversee FEMA Letter of Map Changes and related studies • Provide leadership, mentorship, and technical guidance to team members • Monitor project progress to ensure alignment with scope, schedule, and budget goals ### What you bring • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field • Professional Engineer (PE) license required (Georgia preferred) • 10+ years of experience in water resources engineering • Strong experience in hydrologic and hydraulic modeling and stormwater management design • Experience with green infrastructure and low impact development practices • Experience with erosion and sediment control design and permitting • Proficiency in preparing construction plans, specifications, and cost estimates • Working knowledge of AutoCAD, ArcMap, and hydrologic/hydraulic modeling software • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to lead client interactions • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and appropriately prioritize workflow • Strong organizational and time management skills • Ability to mentor staff and lead a high-performing team • Ability to perform field work including lifting up to 25 pounds ### Why Thomas & Hutton? • Competitive salary plus performance bonus • Condensed work schedule for better work-life balance • Top-tier health, dental, vision, and prescription coverage • 401(k), generous PTO, holidays, and tuition assistance • Thomas & Hutton University and hands-on Civil 3D mentoring to advance your career **Schedule:** On-site: Monday–Thursday 7:30 a.m.–5:30 p.m.; Friday 7:30 a.m.–11:30 a.m.
