JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES Pupil Services and Attendance Counselor MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Basic Skills Requirement (see for details). An earned Master’s or advanced degree of at least equivalent standard from an accredited college or university in the field of counseling, social work, psychology, educational psychology, education, or other related field (transcripts required) Hold a California Pupil Personnel Services Credential (PPSC) with authorization in Child Welfare and Attendance (CWA) APPLICATION AND SELECTION PROCESS Complete application Provide relevant documents: Basic Skills Requirement Bachelor's degree Master’s degree the field of counseling, social work, or other related field transcript Copy of you credential(s) Upload a current resume ** Upload a cover letter ** The cover letter should be a maximum of 2 pages describing your qualifications for this position and successful experience and training in the following areas: Providing counseling, advocacy, and case management services, to students and families Analyzing data to inform attendance, behavioral, social emotional, and/or academic supports and interventions Providing leadership in facilitating group processes with students, parents and community agencies Ensuring protection of educational and due process rights of students including, but not limited to, students in foster care, students who are experiencing homelessness, pregnant and parenting teens, probation youth, camp returnees, students referred for expulsion, expelled students, and other students at-risk for school failure and dropout Provide contact information for professional references, including current or most recent school-based or child-centered employment Applicants may be contacted by Human Resources with requests for outstanding documents or information. ** Your resume and cover letter will be evaluated for depth of experience related to the areas listed above, as well as your writing skills. Selection Process After Interview Applicants who are deemed ELIGIBLE by Human Resources will be placed on the appropriate eligibility list for a period of one calendar year. Please see link here: BSAP Flyer Job Description-Inclusive of the class code 0543 outline, the BSAP PSA description also includes the following description: The Black Student Achievement Plan (BSAP) PSA Counselors will provide child welfare and attendance supports, working with students participating in BSAP and families to address social/emotional, home, and community barriers and support students participating in BSAP with achieving their academic potential. BSAP PSA Counselors leverage a strengths-based, identity affirming approach to ensure that the educational goals and needs of students participating in BSAP within the assigned region/program/school are met. Positions may require an adjusted work schedule according to program needs. These positions are subject to review for renewal on an annual basis.
