Job description
**Quantitative Trader – Delta One (Asia-Pacific)** **Location: Sydney, Australia** **Qube Research & Technologies (QRT)** is a global quantitative and systematic investment manager operating across asset classes and geographies. We combine data, research, technology, and trading expertise to deliver scalable, research-driven investment strategies. We are building a new **Delta One trading desk** in Sydney and are looking for an early hire to help shape its direction. This is an opportunity to join a fast-growing, ambitious team with meaningful scope for ownership and impact from day one. The role sits at the intersection of trading, research, and technology — you will be actively involved in all three, rather than specialising in a single function. On any given day, you may be operating live trading systems and managing risk, researching and developing new signals, or improving the infrastructure the desk runs on. As the platform grows, you will play a key role in expanding the desk across Asia-Pacific, with a long-term ambition to build capabilities in markets globally. **Responsibilities** - Trade Delta One products, including ETFs, futures, and equities, across Asian exchanges, delivering efficient execution and competitive pricing - Operate and monitor systematic trading strategies across a range of horizons, from high-frequency trading to longer-term positioning - Research and develop alpha signals using market microstructure, flows, and cross-asset data, in collaboration with quantitative researchers - Build and improve trading infrastructure in collaboration with engineers and developers - Identify and capitalise on relative-value and arbitrage opportunities - Monitor market structure, liquidity, product developments, listings, and regulatory changes across Asia-Pacific markets - Contribute to the ongoing development of the desk’s trading capabilities, systems, and processes as it scales **Your Profile** - Experience in trading, quantitative research, or a related quantitative role - Strong quantitative and probabilistic thinking, with an intuitive understanding of expected value and risk/reward trade-offs - Experience in systematic trading, market making, proprietary trading, or quantitative research; direct Delta One experience is advantageous but not essential - Comfortable working with electronic trading systems and making data-driven decisions - Curious about markets and motivated by both research and implementation — from identifying an opportunity through to production - A builder mindset: you enjoy improving strategies, tools, and processes rather than simply operating within established frameworks - High attention to detail, ownership, and accountability - Clear and effective communicator who collaborates well across trading, quantitative research, and engineering - Comfortable in a fast-growing environment where not everything is defined and priorities will evolve as the desk scales - Programming experience with the ability to work with data and translate ideas into practical trading solutions - Strong quantitative foundations, typically demonstrated through a degree in Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, Computer Science, Economics, Finance, or a related discipline **Why Join QRT** - Join an ambitious, fast-growing Delta One trading desk at an early stage of its development - Take on meaningful responsibility and have direct impact on strategy, trading, and desk performance - Work at the intersection of quantitative trading, research, and technology - Collaborate in a flat, high-performance environment with experienced global teams - Access cutting-edge data, tools, and global trading infrastructure - Help build and scale trading capabilities across Asia-Pacific and, over time, global markets QRT is an equal opportunity employer. We welcome diversity as essential to our success. QRT empowers employees to work openly and respectfully to achieve collective success. In addition to professional achievement, we offer initiatives and programs designed to support employees in achieving a healthy work-life balance.
