Job description
Alice & Bob is developing the first universal, fault-tolerant quantum computer to solve the world’s hardest problems. The quantum computer we envision building is based on a new kind of superconducting qubit: the Schrödinger cat qubit 🐈⬛. In comparison to other superconducting platforms, cat qubits have the astonishing ability to implement quantum error correction autonomously! We're a diverse team of 250+ brilliant minds from over 35 countries united by a single goal: to revolutionise computing with a practical fault-tolerant quantum machine. Are you ready to take on unprecedented challenges and contribute to revolutionising technology? Join us, and let's shape the future of quantum computing together! **About the role** We're looking for a **Quantum Compilation Scientist** to join our growing compilation team. You'll design and optimize the software toolchain that translates quantum programs into physical gate operations on our processors. This is a cross-disciplinary role spanning quantum physics and computer science. Your first major focus: integrating our latest architectural advances into the resource estimator, so our systems scale efficiently without sacrificing performance. ### Responsibilities - Develop Alice & Bob’s compilation tool suit, both with theoretical studies and implementation, to ensure the best use our fault-tolerant quantum computer architecture. - Improve the resource estimator to integrate our newest architectural improvement, and make it usable by external users. - Fill patents, publish your results in scientific publications and present them in conferences. - Mentor junior members of the team, interns, and PhD students. ### Requirements - Demonstrated expertise across quantum compilation, quantum error correction, fault-tolerant quantum algorithms, classical language and compilation theory. - PhD or equivalent in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Physics, Quantum Information Science, or a related field. - Proficiency in Python and at least a compiled language (e.g. C++, Rust, etc.); experience with other relevant languages is a plus. - Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen eye for detail. - Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment. - Professional-level English proficiency, both written and spoken. ### Nice to Have - Deep expertise in graph theory or branch & bound/constraint propagation algorithms. - Solid understanding of classical compiler backends (e.g., LLVM, GCC) or high-performance or specialized computing compilers. - Comprehensive knowledge of computer architecture and operating systems. ### Recruitment Process - Screening Call with [Grace](https://www.linkedin.com/in/grace-itohan-okoi/), Talent Acquisition Specialist (30 min) - Hiring Manager Interview with [Elie](https://www.linkedin.com/in/élie-gouzien-7278ba193/) (45 min) - Technical Interview/Presentation with the team (90 min) - Leadership Team Interview (30 min) - Fit Interview (45 min) - Reference Check
