Recruiter - Skilled Trades

Job description

# **About 1X** We're building humanoid robots that work in home - doing the chores, handling the tasks, and giving people their time back. Simple, but it's not. To do this right, we have to solve robotics, AI, manufacturing - at the same time, at scale, in a form factor that has to be safe enough to live with your family. If you're inspired by this, you'll thrive here. We've been at this since 2014 and we're at the point where the hard problems are behind us and the *hard work* is in front of us. NEO is our flagship - a home robot designed to move, learn, and operate in the real world alongside real people. We're not demoing it - we're shipping it. We're excited to meet you, if this excites you. If you've spent your career working on problems that matter and want to see them actually reach the world - this is that moment. We're scaling, we're hiring with intention, and we need people who want to build something that will genuinely change how humans spend their time - safely creating abundance for all. # **About the Team** Our recruiting team brings in the people who turn NEO from a design into a robot ready for the home. We partner closely with manufacturing and operations leaders to hire the technicians and skilled tradespeople whose craftsmanship, precision, and problem-solving make that possible. # **Your Charter** The mission of this role is to build the skilled trades teams that enable 1X to scale production. You will own recruiting from first outreach through start date, running the hiring events that bring hundreds of candidates through our doors, identifying exceptional hands-on talent, and helping hiring managers make confident decisions as manufacturing needs evolve. # **Key Outcomes** - Deliver hires against agreed manufacturing plans for roles such as assembly, electrical, test, quality, and maintenance technicians, as well as machinists. - Run hiring events that convert at scale: strong show rates, same-day interview decisions, offers within days, and candidates kept engaged from screen through start date. - Build reliable candidate pipelines through trade schools, apprenticeship programs, community organizations, referrals, paid channels, and local outreach. - Align hiring managers on practical skills and clear evaluation criteria, using AI-assisted pre-screening, structured interviews, and role-relevant assessments to identify exceptional craftsmanship and troubleshooting ability. - Use pipeline conversion, show rates, offer acceptance, start rates, and early retention to find bottlenecks, improve hiring results, and keep leaders informed. # **Key Competencies** - Distinguishes the top 10% of skilled trades talent from the top 40%. - Curiosity about how things are built, with the ability to probe for evidence of precision, safe work practices, and hands-on problem-solving. - Resourcefulness in reaching skilled tradespeople who may not be active on traditional recruiting platforms. - Credibility with hiring managers and candidates, including the judgment to challenge assumptions and present a balanced assessment of each candidate. - Ownership, urgency, and the operational discipline to run high-volume events and many openings without dropping candidates. # **Minimum Requirements** - Experience recruiting skilled trades or technician talent in manufacturing, industrial operations, or a comparable hands-on environment. - Demonstrated success managing multiple openings from sourcing and screening through interviews, offers, and closing. - Experience building candidate pipelines through proactive outreach and relationships beyond inbound applications. - Strong written and verbal communication, with the ability to maintain accurate applicant tracking records and use recruiting data to guide priorities. # **Preferred Skills** - Experience supporting a factory launch, production ramp, or high-volume hourly hiring program. - Established relationships with trade schools, technical programs, or skilled trades communities in Los Angeles or the Bay Area. - Experience recruiting for robotics, automotive, aerospace, or other precision manufacturing environments. - Experience using AI screening or automation tools in a high-volume hiring process. # **What does a successful 1X Team Member look like** Team members at 1X who thrive here are builders. They move fast, own their work completely, and treat time like it's the one thing you can't get back - because it is. They say what they mean, finish what they start, and hold themselves to a standard before anyone has to ask. We push each other to be better, and we do it with honesty and respect. # **Compensation Range** $122,000 - $150,000 + Equity # **Benefits** - Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage - Generous paid time off, company holidays, and parental leave - 401(k) plan with company match (100% on the first 3% of contributions, 50% on the next 2%) - Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA) and Health Savings Accounts (HSA) options - Commuter benefits (transit and parking) - Short-term and long-term disability, and life insurance - Employee Assistance Program (EAP) for mental health, financial, and personal support - Onsite snacks and catered lunches # **Equal Opportunity Employer** 1X is an Equal Opportunity Employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, national origin, ancestry, citizenship, age, marital status, medical condition, genetic information, disability, military or veteran status, justice system impact, or any other characteristic protected under applicable federal, state, or local law.
