Regional Marketing and Communications Consultant - North America

Job description

*Based in Vancouver* **The Role** Love telling stories? *Nice, but not enough.* Love helping ambitious New Zealand companies win in the world's largest and most competitive market? *Now we're talking.* We're looking for a Regional Marketing and Communications Consultant to join NZTE's North America team. This isn't a traditional marketing role. You won't wait for briefs to arrive or spend days endlessly refining PowerPoint slides. You’ll be expected to get close to the business, spot what is needed and help make it happen. You will work with Trade Commissioners, Business Development Managers and exporters to help turn strategy into commercial results. You'll become embedded in industry sector teams, helping them identify opportunities, shape plans, solve problems and connect with the right expertise at the right time. Think of yourself as part marketing adviser, part project manager, part relationship manager and connector. One day you might be developing the marketing approach for a major conference activation. The next, you could be helping shape the implementation of a sector growth plan, developing targeted content, or creating collateral to help New Zealand exporters succeed in North America. **Who We Are** Te Taurapa Tūhono | New Zealand Trade and Enterprise (NZTE) is New Zealand’s international business development agency. We work with innovative and forward-thinking companies, helping them grow internationally. Our people are based in 37 offices, working across 24 time zones and 40 languages to support New Zealand businesses in over 100 countries. Across North America, we help Kiwi companies grow in some of the world's most dynamic and fiercely competitive markets. We work from offices in New York, Vancouver, Washington DC, San Francisco and Santa Monica, and this role can be based in any one of them. **What You'll Be Doing** You'll be the primary Marketing and Communications business partner for two sector teams in North America. That means: - Embedding with your sectors’ Trade Commissioners and Business Development Managers to build trusted relationships. - Leading MarComs delivery, including events, trade missions, conference booths, campaigns, and integrated marketing initiatives. - Being the connector between your sector teams and the rest of the Marketing, Communications and Solutions team which includes research, digital solutions, content and event management specialists. - Picking up some region wide marketing and communication responsibilities which may include trade media, social media or brand presence. The best relationships, opportunities and insights are built face-to-face, so regular travel to your appointed regional offices will be part of the role. You may also travel to special events and trade shows across North America. Success in this role means your sector teams see you as a trusted commercial partner, marketing activity is tied to commercial priorities, and good ideas move from discussion to delivery without drama. **What You'll Bring** We're less interested in whether you've followed a textbook marketing career and more interested in whether you can build trust, understand commercial priorities and get things done in a way that makes people want to work with you. You'll likely bring: - Solid experience in marketing, communications, event marketing, account management, or related customer-facing roles. - Excellent writing and communication skills. - Exceptional relationship-building skills, with the ability to influence, collaborate, and build trust across a range of stakeholders. - Strong commercial curiosity and judgement. - Proven project management skills, with the ability to move initiatives from idea to execution while balancing competing priorities. - Comfort navigating ambiguity in a fast-paced environment. Importantly, you'll enjoy being close to the action and thrive under pressure. **Why You'll Love It** This is one of those roles where no two days are alike and you will be stimulated by the diversity. You’ll work with a dedicated and collaborative global team across the US, Canada and New Zealand. We encourage learning, honest conversations, intellectual challenge and plenty of fun along the way. We believe New Zealand is good for the world, and that diversity makes our people, organisation and country stronger. We welcome applicants from every background and are committed to an environment where everyone can contribute and thrive. **Interested?** If you're excited by the idea of working across a continent, partnering with commercial teams, travelling regularly and helping ambitious New Zealand companies succeed in North America, we'd love to hear from you. The role can be based in any one of our five North American offices. You must already have the appropriate immigration status to work in the country where you will be based. **Please apply with your CV and a brief cover letter telling us what you would bring to this role and an example of where you have seen great MarComs really moving the export dial!** This vacancy closes **5pm PST Monday 19 October.** **This role is banded at VAN L15 and salary range is between CAD $94,000 - $105,000 per annum.** **Applicants must have an existing authorization to work in Canada. Employment visa sponsorship is not available. We are managing this hire internally and are not accepting inquiries from third-party agencies.** *We believe New Zealand is good for the World. New Zealand Trade and Enterprise (NZTE) is an equal opportunity employer. At NZTE it is all about our people and we seek diversity of thought; we welcome and encourage you to apply regardless of ethnicity, gender, religion, age, sexual orientation, gender identity, neurodiversity or disability. If we need to make specific accommodations in any part of the interview process, please note this in your application or discuss with the Talent Acquisition Partner.*
