Job description
**Position Overview**: Coastal Care Veterinary Emergency & Referral Hospital is looking for an experienced, collaborative and professional **Registered Veterinary Technician** with a passion for **emergency medicine to join our ER team**. This position requires a driven individual with attention to detail and who is a self- starter and able to work in a fast paced environment. The ideal candidate must be computer literate and have exceptional multi-tasking and time management skills. Critical thinking and problem- solving skills are crucial; you must be able to multitask, collaborate and communicate with co-workers efficiently, effectively and professionally. ### Key Duties & Responsibilities - Triage patients, assessing vitals to determine stable vs critical - Induction, maintenance, and recovery of companion animals - Knowledge of common & emergent medications - The ability to work in a highly collaborative, fast-paced environment - The ability to deliver exceptional client & patient service - Placement and maintenance of intravenous catheters, arterial catheters and central lines - Calculate CRIs, fluid additives and drug doses - Knowledge of fluid pumps and fluid setup, including syringe pumps and CRI administration - Ability to perform Imaging and laboratory diagnostics - Monitor patients before, during, and after procedures under sedation and anesthesia - Complete treatment plans ordered for hospitalized patients - Filling and review prescriptions - Patient discharges and client communications ### Education - Graduate from a licensed Veterinary Technician program (required) - Completed the VTNE - In good standing or able to license with provincial licensing boards (NSVMA, EVTA) - Able to perform physically demanding work that requires lifting (up to 50 pounds) and constant motion ### Total Compensation - A Competitive Wage Rate - A Comprehensive Health Benefits Package (Medical, Dental, & Vision premiums paid by clinic) - Professional Services Coverage (chiropractor, massage therapist, physiotherapist, acupuncturist and more) - Enhanced Mental Health Practitioner Coverage - P3 Pawsitive Health & Lifestyle Spending Account - Continuing Education (CE) allowance for advanced professional development plus three days of paid leave to attend CE; RECOVER training, AtDove CE, Fear Free training - RRSP Matching - Employee Assistance Program - Paid Licensing & Membership Dues - Paid Vacation Time - Overnight premium - Paid Sick & Personal Emergency Days - Hospital Discounts - Uniform Allowance - Signing Bonus - Relocation Allowance to assist with moving expenses can be arranged for out-of-town candidates - VTS mentorship This position has tremendous opportunity for growth and advancement as our hospital grows.
