Research Scientist II – Neuroblastoma Tumor Immunology (Carbone Lab)

Description: We’re looking for a Research Scientist II to join our team and take a leading role in advancing our research in neuroblastoma tumor immunology. Our lab studies how interactions between NK cells, dendritic cells, and T cells shape anti-tumor immunity, with the goal of understanding how immunotherapies could generate more effective and durable responses in high-risk neuroblastoma. The Research Scientist II will have substantial research experience in immunology, cancer immunology, immunotherapy, pediatric cancer, or a related field who is ready to take primary responsibility for a major research project. This person will work closely with the Principal Investigator (PI) while serving as a senior scientific resource within the lab, providing experimental leadership, independent scientific decision making, and mentorship to junior lab members. Job Responsibilities 60% Experimental Research: Lead the design, planning, execution, troubleshooting, and analysis of experiments focused on neuroblastoma immunology and cancer immunotherapy. 25% Project and Team Leadership: Take primary responsibility for advancing a major research project; coordinate experimental work across lab members and collaborators; provide scientific guidance and mentorship to junior researchers. 15% Scientific and Lab Operations: Compose manuscripts and presentations; initiate new research directions; help establish rigorous experimental practices and identify scientific or operational issues that may impede research. T echnical expertise Multiparameter flow cytometry and cell sorting Mammalian cell culture and in vitro immunoassays Tissue harvest, processing, and immune cell isolation Mouse handling and in vivo experimental techniques Mouse colony management, including oversight of routine colony operations Data analysis related to the above techniques and scientific writing Required Education and Experience Bachelor’s Degree in an engineering or scientific discipline; may require a Master’s Degree for certain lab specialties. Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in a related area/laboratory setting. Required Credentials N/A. Preferred: Additional experience in one or more of the following areas is desirable: Advanced microscopy and/or intravital imaging Histological and spatial analysis of tissue Processing and analysis of human tumor samples Computational image analysis using ImageJ/Fiji, Python, or related tools Transcriptomic and/or genomic data analysis using R, Python, or related tools Preclinical tumor models Cell engineering Compensation Range $32.07 - $48.11 per hour Salary Information This compensation range was calculated based on full-time employment (2080 hours worked per calendar year). Offers are determined by multiple factors including equity, skills, experience, and expertise, and may vary within the range provided.
