Job description
### Responsibilities - Provide overall project leadership for construction engineering activities, ensuring successful project delivery - Direct and oversee field inspection, material testing, and project documentation efforts - Lead coordination with clients, contractors, and project stakeholders to address construction challenges and maintain project quality - Interpret and enforce contract documents, specifications, and regulatory requirements to ensure compliance and resolve field conditions - Act as the primary liaison with the Illinois Tollway, managing communications, maintenance of traffic, and project progress reporting - Conduct and facilitate weekly progress meetings to monitor project performance and address emerging issues - Manage authorization to proceed, change orders, and extra work orders, ensuring proper documentation and approvals - Monitor and manage project schedules, budgets, and resource allocation to meet project milestones and objectives - Maintain comprehensive and accurate job site records, including daily reports, meeting minutes, approved drawings, and pay requests - Ensure safety protocols are implemented and adhered to by all project participants - Mentor and support inspection teams to ensure effective field operations and documentation practices - Assist in designing and planning future projects during off-peak construction periods as required - Champion project quality, safety, and stakeholder satisfaction throughout all construction phases ### Qualifications - Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or other related Engineering degree - Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) required - Minimum 10 years of experience in construction inspection and civil/structural engineering, with senior engineering responsibilities - Previous experience with Illinois Tollway projects is required - Proven leadership in managing complex construction projects and multidisciplinary teams - Strong knowledge of contract management, construction planning, and documentation - Familiarity with e-Builder, ICORS, and Microsoft Office Suite systems - Ability to drive to and work at construction sites - Excellent organizational, communication, and decision-making skills - Willingness to complete required training in OSHA, CPR, and other mandated safety programs - Must possess exceptional interpersonal and organizational skills - Must be able to work in the US without sponsorship now or in the future
