We're a wholly owned subsidiary of [Teamshares, Inc.](https://www.teamshares.com/) — a publicly traded company built to keep great small businesses thriving, one acquisition at a time. ### The Role - We’re looking for a **Financial Controller** to join our growing team, focused on supporting a portfolio of **retail companies**. This is a hands-on, high-impact role where you’ll partner closely with company presidents and employee-owners to drive financial clarity, optimize operations, and support long-term strategic success. - You’ll be responsible for the full accounting cycle, financial reporting, inventory oversight, and advising leadership teams—while identifying opportunities for improved systems, processes, and profitability. ### What You'll Do - *Strategic Client Partnership* - Serve as a trusted advisor to multiple retail business presidents, tailoring financial insights to their operational needs. - Leverage your hands-on experience in retail operations to guide cost control, product margin analysis, vendor management, and inventory forecasting. - Translate complex financial data into actionable recommendations that support both short- and long-term strategic decisions. - *Financial Operations & Oversight* - Lead full-cycle accounting operations including A/P, A/R, GL, inventory accounting, revenue recognition, and payroll. - Manage month-end and year-end closes, including reconciliations, accruals, fixed assets, and deferred revenue adjustments. - Oversee inventory accounting and ensuring accurate valuation and minimizing shrinkage. - Maintain a 13-week cash flow forecast and recommend solutions to optimize working capital. - *Reporting & Analysis* - Prepare trial balances, variance analyses, and financial reporting dashboards using OneStream or similar platforms. - Collaborate with company leadership on budgets, quarterly planning, and long-term strategic initiatives. - Deliver KPIs that reflect operational performance and margin trends. - *Process Improvement & Controls* - Identify and implement process improvements across accounting systems, POS integrations, and reporting workflows. - Assist in developing internal controls and documenting financial procedures specific to retail environments. - Streamline inventory management practices, multi-location stock, and seasonal adjustments. ### Who You Are - A proactive, hands-on Controller who thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic, small business environment. - A strong communicator who can translate complex financial concepts to non-financial audiences. - A self-starter who is comfortable working independently, managing multiple priorities, and rolling up your sleeves when needed. ### Qualifications - Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA preferred) - 5+ years of experience in a Controller or Senior Accounting role - Proven experience in retail accounting, preferably with multi-location operations - Background in small to medium-sized businesses; fractional or outsourced accounting experience a plus - Tech-savvy and resourceful; comfortable in remote, fast-moving environments - Proficiency in QuickBooks Online, POS systems, and Excel - Working knowledge of US GAAP ### Tools You'll Use - QuickBooks Online & POS systems - NetSuite ERP - OneStream (for reporting and consolidations) - Gusto (Payroll) - Asana (Project/task management) - Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel & Teams) ### Benefits: - Competitive salary - Medical, dental, and vision insurance — 100% employer-paid for employees (and dependents on most plans) - Paid time off including: - 15 vacation days - 19 company holidays - 5 sick days - 1 floating holiday of your choice - Ongoing development through access to Teamshares’ experts in small business accounting and finance - The opportunity to support real employee ownership in America’s small businesses
