# Rheumatologist - Indiana, Pennsylvania > Commonwealth Medical Services · Indiana, United States · Full-time · Posted 2026-02-17 **Workplace:** on_site **Department:** East - Indiana Regional ## Description **Rheumatologist** ### Position Summary A healthcare organization is seeking a **Board Certified/Board Eligible Rheumatologist** to provide comprehensive evaluation, diagnosis, and management of patients with rheumatic and autoimmune conditions affecting the joints, muscles, bones, and connective tissues. This role focuses on long-term disease management, evidence-based treatment, and collaboration across multidisciplinary care teams to optimize patient outcomes and quality of life. ### Key Responsibilities - Evaluate and manage patients with autoimmune, inflammatory, and degenerative rheumatic diseases - Diagnose and treat conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, spondyloarthropathies, vasculitis, gout, and osteoporosis - Develop and implement individualized, evidence-based treatment plans - Manage chronic disease progression and medication therapy, including biologic and immunomodulatory treatments - Perform office-based procedures within scope of practice, including joint aspirations and injections - Interpret laboratory results, imaging studies, and diagnostic testing - Provide outpatient clinic care and inpatient consultative services as applicable - Collaborate with primary care providers and specialty teams to coordinate patient care - Educate patients and families regarding disease processes, treatment options, and self-management strategies - Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant medical documentation - Participate in quality improvement, patient safety, and clinical education initiatives ### Practice Setting - Outpatient rheumatology clinic environment - Hospital-based inpatient consult coverage as required - Schedule and call responsibilities vary depending on organizational structure ### Patient Population - Adult patients with acute and chronic rheumatologic conditions - Longitudinal disease management and follow-up care ### Work Environment - Clinic and consultative hospital practice settings - Multidisciplinary, team-based care model - Emphasis on continuity of care and long-term patient relationships ## Requirements ### Qualifications - MD or DO from an accredited medical school - Completion of an accredited Internal Medicine or Pediatrics residency - Completion of an accredited Rheumatology fellowship - Board Certified or Board Eligible in Rheumatology - Eligible for unrestricted medical licensure in the practicing state - DEA registration or eligibility ### Skills & Competencies - Expertise in autoimmune and inflammatory disease management - Strong diagnostic and clinical decision-making abilities - Excellent communication and patient education skills - Commitment to evidence-based, patient-centered care - Ability to manage complex chronic conditions in an outpatient-focused setting ## Apply [Apply at Commonwealth Medical Services](https://apply.workable.com/commonwealth-medical-services/j/AA4A0F005B/apply) --- Powered by [Workable](https://www.workable.com)
