About Flexion:At Flexion, we're building the intelligence layer powering the next generation of humanoid robots. Our mission is to accelerate the transition from fragile prototypes to real-world deployment of humanoids. We are founded by leading scientists in robot reinforcement learning (ex-Nvidia, ex-ETH Zürich) and backed by leading international VC firms. Within a few months, we’ve gone from our first line of code to deploying real humanoid capabilities with our partners. The roleWe're looking for a curious, experienced Robotics Engineer who wants to push … You'll work directly with our diverse robot fleet, putting the full Flexion stack through its paces on physical systems and helping our AI engineers close the loop between models and machines. In this role, you'll ensure that the Flexion software stack works on a wide range of robot architectures. You will cut down the required onboarding time of new robots by developing and improving our commissioning pipeline ranging from system identification and modeling, over sensor calibration to the software interface design and testing. If you are excited by the diversity of a robotic system, motivated to chase bugs across different subsystems until you find the root cause, and want to shape the way we onboard new robots in our fleet, we would love to hear from you.Key responsibilitiesRobot commissioning (interface design, calibration, system identification) along with the development of the required tooling to cut down commissioning timeDeployment code improvement and maintenanceDebug complex system-level issues on internal development robots as well as client robotsRequirementsMSc or PhD in Robotics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experienceHands-on experience working with multiple subsystems (e.g. sensing, state estimation, actuation, modeling, control, networking) on multiple different robotic systemsExcellent programming skills in C++Comfortable working in Linux/Ubuntu environmentsAutonomous working style - you take ownership of a problem and drive it to a conclusionFast-learning mentality: new problems excite you rather than intimidate youProfessional working proficiency in EnglishNice to HaveKnowledge of system identification and modeling pipelinesKnowledge of simulation environments for robotics (e.g. Isaac)Experience in learning-based controlGood programming skills in pythonBenefitsCompetitive compensationEnhanced pension planEnhanced holiday & paid leave perksRelocation & permit sponsorship Central Zürich office with top-tier robotics testing facilities and infrastructureJoining Europe's leading robotics team & exposure to never-done-before researchEnergetic, collaborative culture with a bias for action and regular community events

The role
We're looking for a curious, experienced Robotics Engineer who wants to push … You'll work directly with our diverse robot fleet, putting the full Flexion stack through its paces on physical systems and helping our AI engineers close the loop between models and machines.
In this role, you'll ensure that the Flexion software stack works on a wide range of robot architectures. You will cut down the required onboarding time of new robots by developing and improving our commissioning pipeline ranging from system identification and modeling, over sensor calibration to the software interface design and testing.
If you are excited by the diversity of a robotic system, motivated to chase bugs across different subsystems until you find the root cause, and want to shape the way we onboard new robots in our fleet, we would love to hear from you.
Key responsibilities
- Robot commissioning (interface design, calibration, system identification) along with the development of the required tooling to cut down commissioning time
- Deployment code improvement and maintenance
- Debug complex system-level issues on internal development robots as well as client robots
Requirements
- MSc or PhD in Robotics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience
- Hands-on experience working with multiple subsystems (e.g. sensing, state estimation, actuation, modeling, control, networking) on multiple different robotic systems
- Excellent programming skills in C++
- Comfortable working in Linux/Ubuntu environments
- Autonomous working style - you take ownership of a problem and drive it to a conclusion
- Fast-learning mentality: new problems excite you rather than intimidate you
- Professional working proficiency in English
Nice to Have
- Knowledge of system identification and modeling pipelines
- Knowledge of simulation environments for robotics (e.g. Isaac)
- Experience in learning-based control
- Good programming skills in python
Benefits
- Competitive compensation
- Enhanced pension plan
- Enhanced holiday & paid leave perks
- Relocation & permit sponsorship
- Central Zürich office with top-tier robotics testing facilities and infrastructure
- Joining Europe's leading robotics team & exposure to never-done-before research
- Energetic, collaborative culture with a bias for action and regular community events
We at Flexion Robotics (flexion.ai) are a young company in Zurich working on the next generation of humanoid robot software to enable robots to perform useful tasks autonomously. We work dynamically and move fast. The team is still fairly small and every new employee at this stage will have significant ownership of their current project.
