Sales Development Representative (SDR)

Job description

Make the calls. Create conversations. Book meetings. Defendify is looking for a Sales Development Representative (SDR) to help drive new sales opportunities through focused outbound prospecting. This is a phone-first role ideal for someone who enjoys engaging prospects through live conversations, maintaining consistent outreach activity, and creating new business opportunities. You'll spend most of your time calling prospects directly, opening conversations, following up on outreach, and creating qualified meeting opportunities for our Account Executives. We are looking for someone who is competitive, resilient, and motivated by clear goals, frequent feedback, and the opportunity to improve and win every day. Success in this role comes from consistent execution and a commitment to continuous improvement. We believe visibility drives improvement, which is why we employ modern systems and processes to track key performance metrics (e.g., call activity, connect rates, conversations, meetings booked, meetings attended, and meeting quality). These metrics help us identify trends, celebrate wins, solve challenges, and continuously improve as individuals and as a team. We are looking for someone who embraces feedback, takes ownership of results, and is motivated to get a little better every day. Defendify’s outbound motion is built around better targeting. We use AI and automation to create segmented account and contact lists, enrich those lists with relevant company and buyer data, and prioritize contacts with 20%+ phone connect rates. That gives our SDRs a stronger starting point than generic outbound lists. From there, success comes down to preparation, energy, execution, and persistence. We are especially interested in candidates who can spend meaningful time with us in Portland, Maine, though we are open to the right person regardless of location. Our headquarters are on the top floor of Commercial Street in the heart of Portland’s Old Port, overlooking Casco Bay. For someone who values in-person collaboration, it is a great place to learn, compete, and grow with the team. What You’ll Own Make outbound calls to targeted prospects every day Book qualified meetings with IT leaders and executive buyers Follow up with prospects through phone, email, and social channels Work filtered and prioritized account and contact lists Continuously learn Defendify’s target buyers, value proposition, and outbound messaging Handle objections and keep conversations moving Maintain clean, accurate activity records in our CRM Prepare Account Executives with useful context before meetings Track your activity, connect rates, conversations, meetings booked, and meetings attended Share feedback from live conversations so we can improve targeting, messaging, and list quality What Success Looks Like You consistently make calls and start live conversations with prospects You book a specified number qualified meetings that turn into real sales opportunities You hit or exceed activity, meeting booked, and meeting attended goals You use feedback, data, and experience to get a little better every day Your follow-up is organized, timely, and accurate You understand who you are calling and why they are a good fit You are resilient, maintain momentum, and bring a positive, competitive energy to the team each day You Might Be a Fit If You… Enjoy prospecting by phone and are comfortable making outbound calls every day Are motivated by goals, scoreboards, and measurable progress Embrace feedback and use it to continuously improve Communicate clearly, professionally, and confidently Stay organized and consistently follow through on commitments and follow-up Are curious about cybersecurity, business problems, and how buyers make decisions Enjoy learning and leveraging tools such as CRM, LinkedIn, dialers, email, and AI Are energized by being part of a competitive, high-performing team Care about creating meaningful opportunities and booking quality meetings, not just logging activity Have experience in sales, customer-facing roles, or other environments where communication, persistence, and accountability matter What This Role Is Not An inbound sales role A role for someone who prefers digital outreach over live conversations An environment where activity matters more than impact Why This Role Matters Defendify helps organizations make cybersecurity easier to manage without needing a large internal security team. For many prospects, the SDR is the first person they speak with from Defendify. That first conversation matters. Simple Test Do you enjoy spending your day on the phone starting conversations with prospective customers? If yes, we should talk. This role reports into Defendify’s go-to-market team.
