Senior Accountant (m/w/d)

Job description

We’re democratizing growth by making coaching a foundational right for every employee, everywhere. Combining human coaching, behavioral science, and technology - including AIMY™, our AI coach - we empower global enterprises to unlock their full potential. Backed by $330M in funding and a network of 3,500+ coaches across 90+ countries, CoachHub is redefining how the world learns and leads through personal, measurable, and scalable development. Joining us means stepping into a place where ownership is real, curiosity is fuel, and change is the norm. You'll work with teams who support each other, push boundaries, and take pride in building products that genuinely make a difference in people's lives. If you want your work to matter, not just as tasks but as impact felt by people every day, this is where you thrive. **Location:** Germany (Home Office) or Berlin (Hybrid) **Languages required:** German and English fluent ## The Role We're looking for a Senior Accountant to join our Accounting team and take end-to-end ownership of accounting for CoachHub GmbH, our German entity. You'll report into our Head of Group Accounting, work alongside another Senior Accountant and closely with colleagues across AP/AR, FP&A and HR. Because the team is lean, we're looking for someone who is comfortable working independently, proactively gets the information they need and enjoys bringing structure and improvements to an evolving environment. ## What You'll Do - **Own the German close.** Take responsibility for monthly, quarterly and annual closing activities for CoachHub GmbH, including accruals, provisions, fixed assets, bank and credit card reconciliations, balance sheet reconciliations and Bundesbank reporting. Prepare monthly and annual financial statements under HGB and support our annual audit. - **Manage tax and compliance.** Prepare VAT declarations and recurring tax filings, including reviewing expenses for tax purposes, coordinate year-end documentation and annual tax requirements, and act as a key point of contact for our external tax adviser. - **Connect the dots across Finance.** Approve supplier invoices, review and book payroll journals from our external payroll provider, and work with our Finance Operations team on payment processing and control and on creditor and customer reconciliations. Work closely with HR, AP/AR and FP&A to make sure everything needed for closing is complete and accurate, proactively following up on missing information rather than waiting for inputs to arrive. - **Contribute to the wider group.** Manage intercompany reconciliations and support the preparation of group financial statements, giving you visibility beyond the German entity and across our international organisation. - **Strengthen how we work.** Help improve accounting processes and ways of working. Identify opportunities to simplify or automate recurring work and explore where AI and new tools can meaningfully improve our Accounting function. ## What You Bring - **Accounting experience:** 5+ years of hands-on accounting experience, including at least 2 years operating at Senior Accountant level or with comparable end-to-end ownership. - **Closing & compliance expertise:** Strong experience with monthly and annual closings, VAT and tax reporting, payroll booking, accruals and provisions, and Bundesbank reporting. Intercompany accounting experience is highly valuable. - **German accounting knowledge:** Strong knowledge of German GAAP (HGB) and German tax requirements, with experience working directly with external tax advisers. - **Qualifications:** A degree or vocational training in accounting, or equivalent long-standing hands-on accounting experience. A Bilanzbuchhalter (IHK) qualification is a strong plus; ACCA or CPA are also welcome. - **Languages:** Fluent English and German, with the ability to confidently work with German accounting, tax and audit documentation and stakeholders. - **Ownership:** You're comfortable taking responsibility for an entity and working independently in a lean team. You don't wait for everything to be handed to you - you identify what's missing and proactively get it. - **Communication:** You work effectively across teams and can navigate situations where information isn't immediately available while keeping communication constructive and professional. - **Accuracy & reliability:** You bring a high level of attention to detail, manage deadlines confidently and stay pragmatic and calm when priorities compete. - **Environment:** You're comfortable working in a fast-moving environment where processes continue to evolve. Experience in a start-up or scale-up is particularly valuable; exposure to a larger organisation is a plus. - **Continuous improvement:** You're naturally curious about better ways of working and interested in how automation, AI and new tools can improve accounting processes. - **Systems:** Experience with Workday is a plus. ## What We Offer - **Own it, grow with it** - Take real responsibility for an important part of our Finance organisation and have the space to shape how we work. - **Coaching isn't just our product** - Access your own certified coach and AIMY™, our AI coach, to support your personal and professional development. - **Work the way that works for you** - A remote-first setup in Germany with flexible working options, 30 days of annual leave and a Volunteering Day. - **Stay active** - Access to Urban Sports Club to keep moving, your way. - **A culture that welcomes change** - We experiment, learn and encourage people to challenge processes that could work better. - **Work that means something** - Be part of a mission-driven business whose product helps people and organisations develop at scale. **Our Commitment to Inclusive Hiring** At CoachHub, we’re building a workplace where everyone can thrive. We welcome people of all backgrounds, identities, and lived experiences - because diverse teams create better ideas, deeper empathy, and bigger impact. If you’re excited about the role but don’t tick every box, we encourage you to apply. **Growth starts with taking a chance.** **About CoachHub** CoachHub is the global leader in digital and AI coaching that enables organizations to create personalized, measurable and scalable coaching programs for their entire workforce, regardless of department and seniority level.
