Senior AI Systems Engineer

Job description

**The Opportunity** Most engineers now use AI to finish tickets faster. This team wants the person who builds the systems that make the tickets unnecessary. You'll design the automations, instrumentation and feedback loops that let AI agents detect a problem, figure out what happened and fix it, with no human in the middle. In your first 90 days, success means shipping at least one workflow that agents now run end to end, with a measurable gain in speed, cost or quality. You'll join a small, flat team at a venture backed AI startup, with direct access to the CTO and CEO and real room to shape how the company builds. **What You'll Own** - Turn manual engineering and product workflows into automated systems that AI agents can run on their own - Build closed loops where production signals (errors, failures, anomalies) trigger agents to investigate and resolve issues automatically - Raise agent performance by giving them better context, tools and infrastructure - Keep event driven services and messaging reliable as the platform grows - Bring ideas to the table: spot what customers would value, push back when something doesn't make sense, and test new approaches before anyone asks - Keep leadership in the loop as you work, sharing progress and blockers early **What We're Looking For** - 5+ years as a software engineer, with your most recent role at an early stage startup where you owned outcomes - Production systems you've built with LLMs and AI agents, not only prototypes - Most of your code is already written by AI, and you spend your time designing the systems around it - Product sense and the confidence to propose ideas without waiting for direction - Clear, proactive communication in English, written and spoken, including with founders and executives - You stay curious under pressure: when a problem gets harder, you ask, rephrase and dig in **Nice to Have** - Event driven architectures and messaging systems - AI powered test automation, internal tooling or developer productivity systems - You build in public: technical posts, side projects, open source or active technical discussions - Experience at a venture backed US startup **Tools and Stack** Python, TypeScript, AWS, frontier LLMs and agent tooling. **Details** - Location: Brazil, São Paulo area preferred (hybrid office). - Time Zone: BRT - Salary: $70K to $75K/year USD - Equity: Yes - Type: Contract **About the Company** A venture backed US startup building AI agents that operate real software for enterprise teams. The engineering team is small with no management layers, and AI already handles most of the hands on coding.
