Senior Associate, Property Asset Management

Job description

**About Wahed:** The global financial system wasn't built for everyone. For millions of people, its reliance on interest (riba) creates a barrier to managing money and building wealth without compromising their values. At Wahed, we're changing that. We are a global fintech company on a mission to build a new financial system—one that is ethical, accessible, and entirely interest-free. From our offices across the globe, our team is building products that were once deemed impossible, from pioneering Shariah-compliant equity ETFs, creating true riba-free alternatives to high yield savings accounts, to creating no-leverage real estate investments for truly interest-free income producing assets. If you're driven to solve complex problems and believe finance should empower, not exclude, join us in building a more equitable financial future. **Job Brief:****Wahed Real Estate** lets people invest in property together. Instead of buying a whole building, each investor owns a share of it, and the rental income is shared between them. Wahed is a licensed **Digital Investment Manager** (DIM), as well as a **Recognised Market Operator (RMO)** by the **Securities Commission of Malaysia** for Equity Crowdfunding. This Fractional Real Estate product is the first of its kind in Malaysia, currently operating within the Securities Commission's regulatory sandbox. We already have a proven track record in the UK and the US, and in Malaysia we're pioneering the category. We're looking for a driven, analytical, roll-up-your-sleeves **Senior Associate, Property Asset Manager** to look after Wahed's growing real estate portfolio in Malaysia. You'll be part of our Global Asset Management function, which oversees properties across the UK, Malaysia and the US. Your job is to keep every Malaysian asset stabilised, protected and performing, so the income it generates reaches investors accurately and on time. Day to day, you'll work with the Malaysia real estate team. You'll connect the global strategy to what happens on the ground. You'll be as comfortable in a spreadsheet as on the phone with a property manager, and you'll take ownership of problems before they grow. You'll run with the tools and processes we're building to help a lean team manage a fast-growing, multi-market portfolio. ### Job Description: **Maintaining and Overseeing SLAs** ***Property Acquisition*** - Manage the timeline with the conveyancing lawyer and the agent's/vendor's conveyancing lawyer to complete the property acquisition (understanding pre-requisites for the land office, building management, etc.). - Administer the change of ownership on property-related matters (utilities, property tax, insurance) for the acquired property. ***Getting Property Ready for Tenancy*** - Coordinate with renovators on repairs and renovation works so they are completed on time and on budget. - Coordinate with professional property managers to prepare the acquired property for tenancy operations. - Manage other relevant stakeholders (i.e. building management, developers) where necessary to get the property ready for tenancy. **Service Provider Management** ***Property Managers*** - Source, onboard, and monitor third-party property managers. - Hold property managers accountable to performance, reporting, and service standards. - Perform site visits to review the quality of properties under management as and when required. - Manage the transition whenever a property manager changes. ***Renovators*** - Source, onboard, and monitor third-party renovators. - Hold renovators accountable to performance, reporting, and timely service standards (i.e. making sure SLA/TAT is achieved). - Perform site visits to review the quality of renovations or improvements as and when required. - Manage the handover from renovator to property manager in a timely and organised manner. Project management skills are a strong plus. - Working knowledge of the Malaysian property landscape, including strata management, local taxes and charges, and tenancy practices. **How You Work** - Genuinely quantitative and thoughtful, with strong, confident Excel skills as an essential foundation. You're comfortable building on them with AI tools to work faster and sharper, without ever losing sight of the underlying numbers, and you validate and own every output. - A genuine “whatever it takes” mindset — comfortable chasing property managers, vendors, and internal teams until the job is done — and comfortable with ambiguity, change, and rapid growth. **Collaboration & Communication** - Strong relationship-management skills.
