Senior Backend Software Engineer (AI Native)

Qrypt is looking for a Senior Backend Software Engineer to own the services behind our quantum security products. You will lead the design and development of backend software — primarily in Rust — that moves quantum entropy and keys, powers our entropy-as-a-service platform, and makes our appliances work reliably and securely at scale. You will use AI-assisted development tooling as a core part of how you work, own the correctness and quality of what ships, and help set how the team engineers in an AI-native way. ### What you'll do - Lead the design, development, and testing of backend services and APIs, primarily in Rust, with some C++ and Python. - Own significant parts of the backend end to end: architecture, implementation, reliability, and performance. - Make and document design tradeoffs; raise the bar on code quality, testing, and review across the team. - Work close to the metal on the software that delivers quantum entropy and keys reliably and securely. - Use AI-assisted and agentic development tooling to accelerate your work while owning the correctness and quality of everything you ship. - Help shape how the team adopts AI-assisted development (instruction conventions, review standards) as the tooling matures. - Develop deep domain understanding (quantum random number generation, cryptography, network security) to architect and validate our products. - Mentor other engineers and collaborate across hardware, product, and engineering to ship end-to-end. ### What you'll need - Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, and/or relevant work experience. - 6+ years building and shipping backend software, including ownership of services end to end. - Expertise in Rust, or deep systems-programming experience (C, C++, Go) with a demonstrated ability to work primarily in Rust at a senior level. - Working proficiency with C++ and Python. - Strong command of backend architecture: APIs, services, concurrency, reliability, performance, and Linux. - Fluency with AI and agent-assisted development, and the judgment to apply it where it adds real leverage — reviewing, correcting, and taking full ownership of AI-generated work. This is core to how we operate at Qrypt and is expected of everyone here. - A track record of technical leadership: design decisions, mentoring, and raising engineering standards. - Strong written and verbal communication skills. - Must be authorized to work in the United States.
