ABOUT MACH INDUSTRIES Founded in 2023, Mach Industries is a rapidly growing defense technology company focused on developing next-generation autonomous defense platforms. At the core of our mission is the commitment to delivering scalable, decentralized defense systems that enhance the strategic capabilities of the United States and its allies. With a workforce of approximately 350 employees, we operate with startup agility and ambition. Our vision is to redefine the future of warfare through cutting-edge manufacturing, innovation at speed, and unwavering focus on national security. We are dedicated to solving the next generation of warfare with lethal systems that deter kinetic conflict and protect global security. THE ROLE Mach Industries builds autonomous defense platforms, and the precision components inside them start with great tooling. As our Senior CNC Tooling Engineer, you'll own the entire tooling ecosystem behind our CNC operations — from tool selection and standardization to data management and continuous improvement across every production cell. This is a high-ownership, shop-floor role. You'll be the bridge between Manufacturing Engineering, CNC Programming, Machinists, Supply Chain, and Production leadership, building a digital-first tooling program that drives faster setups, longer tool life, and lower cost-per-part. If you love creating order from complexity and want your expertise to directly strengthen U.S. national security, this is your seat. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES - Own our CNC tool database — tool records, assemblies, holders, offsets, cutting data, and standard libraries. - Standardize tooling across machines, CAM platforms, and cells to cut variation and boost repeatability. - Build tool assemblies and define standards for holders, shrink-fit systems, gauge length, runout, balance, stick-out, and coolant delivery. - Optimize tool selection to balance tool life, cycle time, surface finish, cost, and reliability. - Connect tooling data across CAM, presetters, machine controls, smart cabinets, and production docs. - Manage inventory through vending/smart cabinet systems — min/max levels, reorder points, consumption tracking. - Analyze wear, failure modes, and usage to extend tool life and drive down cost per part. - Lead root-cause analysis on chatter, poor finish, premature wear, breakage, and dimensional drift. - Drive RFID/barcode tool-ID systems and create the work instructions and training that keep practices consistent across shifts. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS - 5+ years hands-on experience in CNC machining, tooling selection, manufacturing engineering, or tool crib management. - Deep knowledge of cutting tools, toolholding, inserts, coatings, geometries, feeds/speeds, and material-specific strategies. - Experience standardizing tooling for milling, turning, drilling, boring, threading, and finishing. - Working knowledge of CAM systems, tool libraries, and CNC production workflows. - A data-driven mindset and strong documentation discipline — you build standards people actually follow. - High ownership and urgency in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS - Digital tool management platforms or integrated CAM tool libraries. - SQL for tooling databases and reporting. - Vericut, NCSIMUL, Mastercam, Fusion, NX CAM, ESPRIT, or Hypermill. - RFID/serialized tool tracking; tool life management and cost dashboards. - Machining experience in aerospace, defense, propulsion, or UAV hardware. - High-mix, low-volume environments scaling into higher-rate production.
